A friend and colleague recently shared a devotional with me that talked about our reactions to insults, accusations, or mistreatment by others. We have both experienced negative actions and reactions in the workplace and our first instinct is often to defend ourselves. However, the Bible and the devotional remind us that God will defend us, if we let Him!
God is ready to take up our cause and defend us against those that try to hold us down or attack us. However, we often don't give God the chance to act. We decide that we want to defend ourselves, to take on others on our own. When we jump in, we take over a role that God has offered to do for us. He will rescue us from evil attacks, negative actions and reactions, and false accusations. We need to allow God, who will be a better defender than any of us, to intervene on our behalf. Instead of taking action ourselves, we need to call on God and let Him, in all His power and glory, to defend us!
When facing attack, call on God and allow Him to defend you!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being willing to defend me. Help me to call on You and then wait on Your defense. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
