-1 John 3:18-19 (NASB)
As we go about the business of our lives, we will meet people that need our love and God's love. Many of the people we meet have heard the "talk" of love before. Some will have experienced the disappointments of empty words and shallow love. As we lovingly approach people, we must be aware that they may have heard it all before. However, they may not have seen it.
The words of love that we carry from God are words meant to be lived and put into action. As Peter R. Sholtes wrote in a hymn, "they'll know we are Christians by our love." In all of our dealings and interactions, we need to demonstrate God's love. Love should be evident in what we do, not just in what we say. We are not perfect, loving beings, but with God's help we can live His words of love!
Ask God for strength to not just talk about love, but to BE love!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and allowing me to know what love is. Thank You for sending Jesus to show the ultimate in love - sacrificing Himself so that I can live redeemed. Help me to live love, so that others will see Your love in my deeds and actions. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
