Confidence in Mercy & Grace

9/30/2016

"Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." -Hebrews 4:16 (NASB)
Some experiences in our lives can make us nervous or anxious.  Whenever we are facing experiences that are new, we need to have confidence that we can learn and grow through our experiences.  In our spiritual lives, we can have confidence, too.  We can have confidence because we can know God!

As we live and grow, we should seek God and His will for our lives.  God is ready and willing to listen and care for us.  We can be confident in approaching God and we can be confident in His response.  God offers us grace and mercy.  When we need help, God will help us through His grace and mercy.  From forgiving all sin to supporting and guiding us on our journey through life to spending eternity with Him, we can be confident in seeking God and confident in His grace and mercy that saves and helps us!

Be confident in seeking God and receiving His grace and mercy!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the grace and mercy in my life.  Please continue to guide me in Your will.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Consistency

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." -Hebrews 13:8 (NASB)
Whether it's watching our favorite sports teams or searching for answers to the ups and downs of life, we may be searching for consistency.  In a changing world, it can be hard to find something that we can rely on, something that doesn't shift and change.  We can search the whole world and not find it, but we don't really have to search at all!

God is unchanging.  God is always with us and He is faithful.  We don't have to question whether or not God will be by our side.  We also don't have to go searching for Him and His consistency.  God is in our lives and in the world, we just have to acknowledge Him and commit ourselves to Him.  Once we make the choice to seek God, we can know His consistency in our lives and can be reassured by His eternal presence.  He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever!

When searching for consistency, turn to God and find it!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Help me to follow and rely on Your unchanging presence in my life.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Leader with Light and Truth

"O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places." -Psalms 43P:3 (NASB)
When it is time to choose a leader, we can struggle with the faults of the humans placed before us.  No matter how potential leaders present themselves, we know that no one is perfect.  While we may need leaders to guide our places of business, our states or countries, or even our places of worship, we need to remain focused on the one, perfect leader!

God is the one leader that will never forsake or disappoint us.  When we turn to God, we can be reassured that He will lead us with light and truth.  His ways are perfect.  He will not lie to us or lead us astray.  As we commit to God, we can follow Him to His holy places for all of eternity!  God should be the one true leader in our lives!

When looking for a leader, follow God's light and truth!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the light and truth that You shine in my life.  Please help me to follow Your light and truth for eternity.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Meditating On & Listening to the Rock

"May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." -Psalm 19:14 (NIV)
My school district recently went through the process of revising its mission statement and helping all teachers understand how to commit to and implement the mission statement through our words and actions in the classroom.  When we commit to something, we consider how our actions can help us accomplish our goals.  We want to be consistent with the expectations of our missions and commitments.

When we commit our lives to God, we commit to His mission.  Throughout our thoughts, words, and deeds, we need to consider this commitment to God.  As we pray for God's guidance, we also must listen for God's response.  We can pray and meditate on God's will.  We can read the Bible and allow God to speak to us.  We can ask God to help our actions to be pleasing to Him.  After we hear God, we can trust that He will help us to keep our hearts and words focused for His glory!

Meditate on God's will and listen to His guidance in your life!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Please help my thoughts, words, and actions match Your will for my life so that You can be glorified through me.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." -Matthew 6:13 (NIV)
We could problem all look around and identify some form of evil that around us.  If we are not careful, it can be easy to stray into evil.  As we prepare for each day of our lives, we need to recognize that evil is around us and will be tempting.  We need to be

To be sure we stay on the path that God has prepared for us, we must prepare for the temptation and evil that we will encounter.  We can start and end each day by following the advice that Jesus gave us.  We can pray to God as Jesus taught His disciples and each of us.  We can ask God to lead us through or away from temptation and to save us from the evil one.  We then must commit ourselves to listening to and following God!

Pray that God will help you avoid temptation and evil, then be prepared to follow His path!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and being willing to save me from temptation and evil.  Prepare me and help me to follow Your path through all that I encounter.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Love Superhero!

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man." -Proverbs 3:3-4 (NIV)
My daughter's school recently had "superhero spirit day" and encouraged students to come dressed as a superhero.  My daughter originally considered being Wonder Woman, but then asked if she could make up her own superhero.  We agreed and she decided to be the "Love Superhero".  She dressed in clothes and jewelry with hearts and even had a heart braided in her hair as she transformed into her newly created superhero.

The quality of love is a good quality in a superhero.  We are reminded that love is a quality that we should exhibit, too, even if we are not superheroes!  If we commit ourselves to God, we can be sure that love is always part of our lives.  Being human, we may, at times, fail to be as loving as we should, but we can be reassured that God's love doesn't end.  We can always turn to Jesus, a true superhero of love, for examples and encouragement in living a life in love!

Follow God and allow His love to make you a love superhero that helps others!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for showing me love.  Help me to share Your love with others.  Through Jesus, my Love Superhero, I pray, amen.

Transformed, Not Conformed

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." -Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Sometimes we are faced with situations when we just feel that we don't fit in.  Not fitting in can make us feel uncomfortable, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing!  We are called to be followers of God, not followers of the world.  We need to communicate with and be guided by God so we can be transformed!

God doesn't want us to be conformed to the the world.  He wants us to commit our lives to Him so that He can transform our hearts and minds.  When we are committed to God, He can show us His perfect way and perfect will.  We can be guided by Him so we can live our lives in His love and His glory.  We can  be renewed and we can be transformed, then we can live so others can become transformed by God's mercy, love, glory, and power!

Commit yourself to God and be transformed instead of conformed!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for transforming my life.  Help me to live so that others can know You and be transformed, too.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Multiplying Mercy, Peace, & Love

"May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you." -Jude 1:2 (NASB)
The news can be discouraging.  Negativity and tragedy seem to dominate the headlines without an encouraging end in sight.  Even when things seem to be at the lowest point, we need to remember our God and the mercy, peace, and love that can be found in Him.  By multiplying mercy, peace, and love, we can work step by step to change those headlines!

God is filled with mercy, peace, and love.  It is by knowing God that we can know true peace and love.  When things around us seem to be at their worst, we can pray for mercy, peace, and love.  We can also ask God to help us spread His love.  By showing mercy and love, we can help to sow the seeds of peace.  With God's help, we can be part of God's movement to multiply mercy, peace, and love.  We can ask God to make us multipliers for His goodness and His Kingdom!

Ask God to make you a multiplier of mercy, peace, and love!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for showing me Your mercy, peace, and love.  Please guide my actions so others can know You and mercy, peace, and love on earth can be multiplied.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Plans and Purpose!

"Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails." -Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
President Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as saying, "In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable."  In our lives, we can try to plan for everything that may come our way, but there may be challenges that are unexpected and do not follow our plans.  We can think of ourselves as planning and preparing for a spiritual battle, but the outcome is ultimately beyond our ability to plan on our own!

We may think we can plan for ourselves.  It can be good to set goals for ourselves and try to reach them, but we have to acknowledge the reality that we live in each day.  We are surrounded by temptations that we will  need to battle each day.  Even though we can try to plan to overcome any obstacles in front of us, we can only overcome them if we call on God and listen to His plans and His purposes.  In the end, God's planning and purposes will prevail and they will be for our benefit!

Talk to God so your plans include His plans and purposes!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your love and guidance.  Help me to understand Your plans and purposes for my life so I can follow them and glorify You.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Greater, Less, Greater!

9/21/2016

"He must become greater; I must become less." -John 3:30 (NIV)
In our lives there are times when we are pushed or driven to become better.  In the process of learning and growing, we may face pressures to take credit for ourselves, even when others contribute and mentor us.  To grow and become better, we need to allow ourselves to step back and be mentored by someone with more knowledge and experience!

John the Baptist knew his role in proclaiming the coming of Jesus Christ.  John knew that there would come a time when he would take a step back, to become less, in order to allow Jesus to receive the glory that He deserved.  We should also respect the glory of Jesus in our lives.  Jesus can be our mentor, but we cannot overshadow Him and all that He does in our lives and the lives of others throughout the world and throughout time.  As we grow throughout our lives, we need to put Jesus first.  While it may seem as though putting Jesus first is becoming less, putting Jesus first in our lives will actually make us greater in the end!

Allow Jesus to be greater and you will become greater, too!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for your greatness and glory.  Help me to always put You first and to allow You to guide my life and make me greater through You.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Know It and Show It!

"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." -Colossians 4:5-6 (NASB)
Throughout the beginning school this year there have been many reminders about how we approach and interact with other people, especially our students.  In a diverse student body, there are many differences between students.  As a faculty, we need to recognize and respond appropriately to each student.  We don't want our students to feel like outsiders, so we need to be full of understanding and grace that can allow the students to become part of a vibrant community!

We are reminded throughout the Bible that we are to be welcoming of "outsiders", too.  We want others to know God's love and grace and to become part of His family.  To help others see the glory, grace, love, and mercy of God, we need to be aware of our actions.  We should be ready to show God's love and grace at every opportunity.  When we know God, we can know His grace and we can be guided by Him.  Once we know it, we need to show it to others every time we have a chance!

Know God's grace and show it to others whenever you have the chance!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life.  Help me to be prepared with the right words and actions that allow others to see Your grace and become part of Your family.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Drive Out Fear

9/19/2016

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." -I John 4:18 (NIV)
Andrew Smith has been quoted as saying, "People fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't conquer."  Fear is often associated with punishments or bad things that may happen unless we can conquer or drive them away.  Unfortunately, fear can cause us to do things out of anxiety or ignorance.  Instead of acting out because we are scared or anxious, we should consider acting out of love!

When we act out of love, we can overcome fear and hatred.  We can forget about punishments in order to share love and redemption.  With God, we don't have to fear punishment as long as we accept His forgiveness.  God's love for us drives away the fear in our lives and allows us to live a full life in Him.  We may be scared, anxious, or even ignorant and not understanding, but we can trust in God and allow Him to help us overcome or drive out each of those feelings through His never-ending love!

Don't live in fear.  Allow God's love to drive it out of your life!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your perfect love.  Help me to trust in You and to follow You in sharing love and forgiveness, instead of fear, punishment, and worry.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

"My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." -Psalm 62:7 (NIV)
It can be hard to ask for help.  Whether it's a small project or a larger need, we sometimes avoid asking for help for different reasons.  We may not want to appear like we don't know what we are doing.  We may not want to bother or inconvenience those that could help.  While there may be times when we can get by without help, sometimes we have no choice but to ask for help from others!

In our physical and spiritual lives, we need help.  We need God to save us from our sinful nature.  We are fortunate to be blessed by a loving and forgiving God.  Our salvation depends on God through the sacrifice and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.  Our honor depends on God's grace and mercy.  Our hope comes through the solid rock of God.  When we need more help, we have God as our refuge.  Throughout our lives, God is ready to be our rock and our source of help!

When you need help, don't be afraid to turn to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for helping me.  Please continue to be part of my life and to continue to guide and help me.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Separation?

"Who will separate us from the love of Christ?  Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" -Romans 8:35 (NASB)
When the long summer came to an end, my daughter had some reservations about going back to school.  Some of it was nerves.  Some of it was the struggle to get back into the routine of bed time and school.  Part of it was that she wanted more time at home together.  Whether it is the end of summer, the end of a weekend or some other transition, there are times when we don't want to be separated from our loved ones.

We should also never want to be separated from the love of Jesus Christ and the grace of God.  No matter where we are headed in our lives, God loves all of us.  The ups and downs of life cannot keep us from God's love.  No one can keep us from God's love.  God has a plan for each and every one of us.  The good news is that as long as we seek a relationship with God, we can never be separated from Him!

God's love never ends and we are never separated from it!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me no matter what.  Help me to seek You and continue to build a relationship with You that allows me to experience Your love.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Deep Inside to Out Loud!

"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name." -Psalm 103:1 (NIV)
Good news is exciting to share!  Sometimes we look for the big moments in life to celebrate, but we are blessed each and everyday.  When we reflect on our lives, we need to realize that contentment, happiness, and praise comes from our gifts from God and from inside of us each and everyday, not just from big moments of celebration!

When we reflect on our lives, we can find blessings and reasons to be thankful.  These reasons are opportunities for celebrating and praising the work of God in our lives.  God is good and we can recognize His role in our lives through praise.  From the deepest parts of our soul to our out loud shouts of praise and thanksgiving, we can let God know how much we appreciate Him.  We can also allow others to be aware of what God can do in their lives, too!

Think about your blessings and praise God from deep inside your soul to out loud for all to hear!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for all that You do in my life.  I praise You for always and forever blessing me!  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Team Spirit!

"This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit." -I John 4:13 (NIV)
In transitioning from middle school to high school, one difference has been the team spirit exhibited by students and faculty at the high school.  The sports and other activities allow students of various interests to be involved in school and with faculty that have shared interests.  The school or team spirit offers encouragement and a sense of belonging to all those that choose to participate in the school.  As Christians, we are also called to have "team spirit" for God...He even gives us His Holy Spirit!

We can know God and become connected to God through the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We can live and breathe through the Spirit and we can come to know and understand God's Word and voice through the Holy Spirit.  With the Spirit as part of our lives, we become part of God's team and should show our excitement about and connection to God.  Through prayer, reading the Bible, and fellowship with other believers, we can grow in God, become closer to Him, and know His will for our lives.  Being part of God's team, we can also show others the love and mercy that God has for them, too!

Show your "team spirit" for God by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you in a deeper relationship with God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to guide me and help me understand Your will in my life.  Help me to follow Your will and to share You with others that I meet.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Heart, Strength, Hope

"Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord." -Psalm 31:24 (NIV)
Sometimes the odds seem insurmountable, but our thoughts and actions can determine what happens next.  We can allow ourselves to be defeated or we can choose to fight and work to overcome the challenges in our lives.  When we decide to take on our challenges, we shouldn't lose hope.  We don't have to face the obstacles on our own!

In the face of pressure or stress, we need to turn to God.  God is our Rock.  He is always by our side.  He gives us cause to be strong and to take heart.  God is the source of our hope.  When we face challenges, it is up to us to turn to God and to let go of trying to control the situation.  After we let go, we can be reassured and have hope that God is on our side!

When there are challenges, turn to God, take heart, and find strength and hope!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being by my side and for being a source of strength and hope.  Please continue to guide my life.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Cry and Be Heard!

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." -Psalm 34:17-18 (NIV)
Our experiences in life teach us early on that we cannot have everything we want.  While it is true that we do not get everything we want, most often we have what we need to survive.  When we are trying to survive, there are times when we have to be humble enough to ask for help.  When we ask for help, then others will know we are in need!

Even in our darkest days or the leanest times, we can be stubborn and not want to ask for help.  Even though God knows what we are going through, He gives us the freedom to choose our path.  When we are struggling or brokenhearted, we need to stop and call on Him.  He may not grant us our every want or wish, but God is there to support us, to help us, and, ultimately, to save us from our sin.  When we feel like we are trapped or sinking, we need to stop, cry out to God, and allow Him to hear us and help us.  Through God, we can be saved!

When you are brokenhearted or struggling, cry out to God, be heard, and allow Him to help!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for waiting for me and for being willing to save me.  Help me to always cry out to You and continue to hear and help me as only You know what I truly need.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." -Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)
Throughout history, there have been events that have challenged humans as individuals, groups, and nations.  Through all of the trials we may face, we need to remember that each and every one of us matter.  When overcoming challenges, it can be reassuring to know that God knows each of us and wants a personal relationship with all of us.

Challenges can cause us to worry and lose sight of the fact that we matter.  Once we start to doubt our worth, the devil can move in and raise even more questions.  Jesus reminds us that God is with us and that God knows us.  Even more, God wants us to know Him and have a relationship with Him.  Once we realize our value in God's sight and the importance of a relationship with God, we can realize that each of us does matter!

Know God and know that you matter!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for knowing me and wanting to have a relationship with me.  Help me to continue to draw close to You so that I can fully understand that I matter!  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

It's Not What You Have

"Then He said to them, 'Beware, and be on your guard against every from of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.'" -Luke 12:15 (NASB)
Sometimes it can be hard to resist a good sale.  Even if we have enough, a good deal or clearance price can be tempting.  Yet it, in the end, it doesn't really matter how much we have.  Our life and happiness cannot be measured by possessions or things.

Jesus reminds us to beware and on guard against greed.  While we may not think we are acting out of greed, we should think about what we have and what we need.  We don't have to deprive ourselves, but our focus shouldn't be on acquiring an abundance of possessions.  If our attention is taken away from God and placed on the things that we have, we can miss opportunities to serve God.  We can find contentment and happiness in God and in serving Him, we don't need to worry about the possessions that we have!

Focus on God and don't worry about what you have, just be happy as you work to serve Him!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for always providing for me.  Help me to remember to keep my focus on You and not on the things that I have or want.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Compelling Stories

"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." -II Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)
In a conversation today, some of my students were discussing inspirational stories.  We often hear stories that inspire or compel us to try harder or be better people.  Some people overcome amazing challenges.  Others create and build organizations or inventions that impact people's lives.  The stories that my students were referring to and that we see posted around us can inspire us, but we shouldn't forget the most compelling story: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

The love and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus on the cross is a gift that is presented to everyone.  Knowing the events of Jesus' life can convince us that He died for all of us.  This gift, once accepted, is life changing!  His love, compassion, and mercy can show us how to live.  His dedication to God, the Father, can guide us in our own relationships with God.  We can be inspired and compelled to live in ways that bring us closer to God, closer to our fellow believers, and closer to those waiting to hear the compelling stories of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Share the compelling story of Jesus Christ and help others be inspired and brought closer to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for giving me the example of Jesus' life and redemption through His death and resurrection.  Help me to live according to Your will so others can hear the compelling story of Jesus Christ, my Savior.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Are You Ready To Go?

"And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'" -Mark 16:15 (NASB)
Getting ready to go on a trip can take time...sometimes more time than we think!  We have to think of what we need now and what we will need throughout the course of our trip.  We can try to think of what we will possibly need and we can make lists, but all of this is guided by where we are going and what we are preparing to do with our time.  We have to take the steps to get ready to go!

Jesus prepares each of His followers for a trip.  We are called to spread the Gospel to all of creation.  We may not have to travel far or we may be called to travel the world.  Either way, we need to be prepared.  We know what God is calling us to do, so we need to prepare by reading God's Word, communicating with God, and following the directions that God give us.  We can share our testimonies, God's love, and God's promises with others.  As we trust and listen to God, He will guide our thoughts, words, and actions.  We just need to get ready and commit to the calling God has presented to us!

Get ready to go and follow God's calling for your life!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for saving me and for calling me to share Your presence in my life with others.  Please guide my thoughts, words, and actions as I share Your love and glory with those around me.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Decisions, Seeking, & Commands

"I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands." -Psalm 119:10 (NIV)
We are faced with many decisions each day.  Whenever we are considering our decisions, we can also consider what we are seeking with our decisions.  We may seek a sense of comfort or goodness.  We may seek the advice or approval of family, friends, coworkers, or others around us.  When we consider our decisions, we should seek God and His guidance!

In seeking God, we can learn His plans for our lives and we can work to follow His commands.  When we seek God and His will, we have God's guidance in making decisions and choosing the path that we should follow.  God will fill our hearts and provide us with His commands to help us know the decisions we need to make and paths we need to follow.  As we seek and follow God, we can be assured that God will watch over us and we can feel His presence in our lives!

Seek God and His will for your life and be guided by His commands and His presence in your heart!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the commands and direction You provide in my life.  Help me to seek You and make decisions that follow Your will for my life.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." -Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)
We probably all face times when the "to-do" list is longer than the time we have to accomplish it. We can plan and try to fit everything in, but sometimes it's just not possible. While we can get overwhelmed with a list of tasks, we are blessed to worship a God that cannot be overwhelmed!

God can do more than we can imagine.  Our impossible lists or impossible tasks are not impossible for God.  When we feel overwhelmed, we should stop and turn our worry over to God, knowing that He can do more than what we ask.  We should also praise God and give Him the glory for His presence and work in our lives.  We can rely on Him and be reassured that we can do more with Him than we could ever do without Him.  Praise and glory to God for everything and forever!

Praise God for all that He can do...so much more than you could ever imagine!

"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart." -Luke 6:45 (NASB)
I recently saw a quote that said teachers make more decisions every minute than a surgeon.  While I do not know of that is true or not, I do know that we all make numerous decisions every day.  No matter what whether we are at work, at home, at church, or out having fun, we make decisions, sometimes without even thinking about them!  How do we make decisions?

The decisions we make are often related to what is in our hearts.  We can respond with love and goodness or we can respond with evil.  Our decisions and responses depend on the feelings that are rooted in our hearts.  To be sure that we make decisions rooted in goodness, we need to be sure that our hearts are filled with goodness.  We can fill our hearts with goodness by filling our hearts with God's Word, love, compassion, grace, and mercy.  We can be redeemed through God and our hearts can be made whole and good when we put them in God's hands.  After trusting and having faith in God, we can then show others a heart-filled response of goodness and love!

Make sure your heart is in God's hands so that your decisions and responses are rooted in goodness!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me.  Please fill my heart with Your love and goodness and help me to make decisions and respond to others out of the goodness and love You have placed in my heart.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
