Want to Know a Secret?

7/31/2014

"I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:12-13 (NASB)
We all learn how to get along in life, whether our means are humble or abundant.  Sometimes we use these means searching for answers to try to make our lives better.  We search for the "secret" or "easy" fix to being fulfilled, but we have already been given the "secret" key to unlocking happiness and fulfillment in any circumstance.

Paul revealed the "secret" in his letter to the Philippians (4:12-13).  When living through times of having less and times of having more, the answer to being filled is the same.  The answer is strength, love, and salvation from God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  If we have Jesus in our lives and on our side, then it doesn't matter what our means are or what situation we are facing, we have all we need to be filled and content!

If you have Jesus, then you hold the secret to surviving and doing all things!  Thank God for sharing His Son to save us and His continual love for us!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the strength that You give me so that I can face all things.  Thank You for sustaining me in lean times and always providing for me.  Help me to remember to share Your strength and love with those around me so that they, too, can be sustained and made prosperous in You and for You.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Build Up!

"Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing." -I Thessalonians 5:11 (NASB)

"We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone." -I Thessalonians 5:14 (NASB)
The power of a committed and focused group can be inspiring.  A recent professional development opportunity allowed me to be a participant in and facilitator of a learning community.  This community of educators engaged in learning that will have a greater impact on students in our state than any individual could have hoped to have on their own.  The work, which required dedication and commitment, was only possible through a supportive, collaborative, and encouraging network of colleagues bringing different perspectives together for one unified goal.

This approach of supporting and encouraging each other should also be evident in our church communities.  When we are working for God and building up His Kingdom, we need to be supportive, collaborative, and building each other up!  By working together, we can accomplish more than any one of us working on our own.  This process requires patience as we all approach our work from different perspectives, but with one goal - the goal of spreading the Good News of God's love and salvation.

Work together with the community of believers to accomplish more together than you can alone!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your love and salvation.  Thank You for giving me a community of believers that I can work with to spread Your Good News to those around me.  Help the impact of Your community be greater than myself and the other individual members of the community.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Sharing is Pleasing!

"And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." -Hebrews 13:16 (NASB)
Sharing is a lesson usually learned early in life, but sometimes we forget this valuable lesson. We become focused on our needs and wants, feeling that we have nothing (or not enough) to share. No matter what we have or what we are doing, we all have something that we can share!

There are many ways that we can share. We can share by giving of our time, talents, or resources. We can share a smile or good deed with someone. We can share the Good News of salvation. Every time we share, it should be rooted in our love of and faith in God. When we choose to share, we are giving of ourselves to others and pleasing God.

Take time to notice others and remember to share!

Prayer:
Thank You for all that you give to me and do for me. Help me to remember to share with others whenever I can. Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Change with Love

"Love does no harm to a neighbor.  Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
-Romans 13:10 (NIV)

"Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrongs." -Proverbs 10:12 (NIV)

"There is no fear in love.  But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.  The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  We love because He first loved us." -I John 4:18-19 (NIV)
How can we change the world?  How can each of us make a difference in the grand scheme of things?  Throughout Jesus' ministry, one of the most powerful actions is love.

Love is often thought of as a noun, a thing that we do or have, but love has power.  The power of love can be a verb, an action word.  Love DOES things.  Love can drive away fears (I John 4:18), love can save us (John 3:16), love can cover all wrongs (Proverbs 10:12).  Letting love be an action won't do harm (Romans 13:10), but can fulfill God's law.

When we begin to think about how to change the world, we should start with love.  Love begins with God, spreads through the home, and then shines out of the home and into the darkest corners of the world.  We can love because God first loved us...and we should show His love to everyone!

A little love can light up the darkest room.  Look for ways to show love throughout your day!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for loving me when I don't deserve Your love.  Please help me to show love to others, because You first loved me.  Allow Your love to shine through me and into the darkness in order to make a difference in this world for Your Kingdom.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Submit and Resist

"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
-James 4:7 (NASB)
There are times when the devil shows up on our doorsteps. He can come in many different forms. Sometimes we can easily recognize him, but other times we may barely notice him working his way into our lives. Filled with human pride, we may choose to try to overcome the devil and his temptations on our own. The last thing on our minds is giving up control.

Even though we may not immediately give up control, it usually becomes obvious at some point that we can't win on our own. James (4:7) reminds us that we need to submit to God. When we submit to God and turn everything over to Him, then we can resist the devil and the devil will flee from us. Through it all, this victory can only be ours when we are willing to submit to God!

Resist the devil and his ways by submitting your life (all of it!) to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being willing to take over and help me resist the ways of the devil. Help me to recognize him and be strong enough to resist his temptations. Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Good Medicine

"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones."
-Proverbs 17:22 (NASB)
When we find ourselves facing challenges and difficulties, our demeanor can often be less than cheerful.  Our heart and soul may start to sink.  Yet, we hold the key to unlocking some of the best medicine!

Proverbs (17:22) reminds us that a joyful heart is good medicine.  When facing challenges, whether spiritual, emotional, or physical, we should strive to maintain a cheerful and joyful heart.  God knows that we can't always be cheerful and joyful on our own, so He is always ready to help!  We just need to ask God, our source of joy, to come to our aid and cheer our hearts.

Remember God's power and grace and allow His wonders to make your heart joyfully good medicine for body, mind, and soul!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for the reminders that I can read in Your Word.  Allow me to remember Your lessons and help my heart to always be joyful so that it can be good medicine for my body, mind, and soul.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Not Worth Comparing

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." -Romans 8:18 (NIV)
We all have bad days. We may also have challenges or sufferings that last for an extended time, longer than just a bad day. Through it all, God is with us, offering comfort and promises of greatness and glory.

No matter how tough our sufferings or how great our earthly triumphs, the glory that God will reveal in us is much greater. The book of Romans (8:18) tells us that this glory is so great that it is not worth comparing to our earthly experiences.  We may suffer now, but God will reveal His glory in us!

Take heart! God has much more in store for you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your comfort in all of my earthly experiences. Please use my time on earth for Your glory, revealing in me Your greatness. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

This Day!

"This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it."
-Psalms 118:24 (NASB)
Each day is different for each of us.  Some days are bright and sunny, but others might be cloudy and dreary.  Whatever our day holds in store, the Psalmist reminds us how we should approach each and every day.

The first thing to remember is that every day is a day that the Lord has made.  He has made this day, this circumstance, and each of us for a purpose.  We should seek His will throughout each and every day!

The second thing to remember is that we should rejoice and be glad in the Lord and in the day that He has made.  No matter what we are facing, no matter how dark and dreary the day may seem to be, we can make it brighter by remembering His glory and rejoicing in His power, love, and care for each of us.  He will help us celebrate the sunny days and He will help us weather the storms of the darker days!

Remember that the Lord has made this day.  Rejoice and be glad in His love and power!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for each and every day that You give me.  Thank You for caring for me and guiding me through the sunny days and the darker days.  Please continue guide me and allow me to hear Your plan for my life.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Do Better!

"I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You."
-Psalm 119:11 (ESV)
In my classroom I have a quote from Maya Angelou that says, "To know better is to do better."  This quote has significance in life as we strive to move away from sin and toward God.  How do we know better to do better?

When we are looking to know better, we don't have to look very far.  God has given us His Word to guide us, to help us know better, and to help us do better.  As we store the lessons from God's Word in our hearts and minds, we have the capacity to do better.  We just need to take the lessons God has given us and put them into action in our lives so that we can move away from sin and toward God's holiness!

Read and learn from His word, so you can know better and do better!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your Word and the lessons that can help me to know better and do better.  Help me to understand Your lessons and apply them to my life.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Move Closer!

"But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God and made Him my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works." -Psalm 73:28 (AMP)
I feel closest to God when I am outdoors, walking in the woods or working in the garden. When I used to live on a nature preserve, I had the opportunity to regularly talk to God while walking in the woods and admiring His creation. As I walk, I can get lost in His wonder and in my conversation with Him, knowing that He is my refuge.

From my experiences, I can say that it is good to be near God and trusting in Him. God is always with us, but each of us may have a special place or way of getting closer to God. We should make an effort to get closer to God each and every day.  Once we are close to God and have given Him our attention, we need to listen to Him and trust His plan for each of us. We can find refuge, strength, and inspiration in Him, then we can share His majesty with others!

Make the time to get closer to God, to fully experience His love and power, and to share Him with others!

Prayer-
Dear God-
Thank You for always being there for me and allowing me to draw near to You. Thank You for being a refuge as well as a source of strength and love. Help me to spread Your love to those around me. Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Roommates Wanted?

"Jesus replied, 'Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.  My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.'" -John 14:23 (NIV)
Have you ever seen a sign advertising, "Roommate wanted."  Living with a roommate can present challenges and provide opportunities for building friendships and support.  Finding the right roommate can be the key to positive experience.  Jesus makes a roommate offer that we should all accept!

Jesus tells us in John (14:23) that if we love Him, then we will obey Him.  If we love and obey Him, then God and Jesus will come and live in our houses.  How awesome it is that we can have all of the love, wisdom, and power of God and Jesus dwelling among us in our homes!  We can have the best, most loving, wisest, and powerful roommates not only living with us, but supporting us everywhere we go and through everything we face!

Invite God and Jesus to be your roommates by loving and obeying their teaching!

Prayer:
Dear God-
I love You and try to obey Your teachings.  I welcome You into my home and thank You for coming to dwell with me and support me through everything.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." -II Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB)
When preparing to do a job, it is important to have all of the necessary tools and supplies.  A home improvement job can take a lot longer if you need to make multiple trips to the hardware store!  As we prepare to work for God, it is important to be prepared with the right tools!

Fortunately, God has given us a tool box that is fully equipped.  The Bible, inspired by God, is ready and waiting to teach us, correct us, and train us in His ways.  All we have to do is take the time to read His word, meditate on it, and ask God for understanding and guidance.

The Bible is there to prepare us for God's work, use it to grow in Him!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for inspiring and providing me with the Bible.  Help me to use Your Word to prepare me for Your work.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Begin and End

"The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride."
-Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NASB)
Chinese philosopher Laozi is credited with saying, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Sometimes that first step is the hardest one to take.  Sometimes it takes encouragement or great discomfort to convince us that the first step is worthwhile!

Once we have taken that first step and are making our way through a matter, we should be patient and have faith that God will lead us to a prosperous and joyous end.  During a journey of a thousand miles, the end may seem far off.  However, with God leading the way, we can be reassured of how much better the end will be than the beginning!

In whatever you are facing, be sure to have patience and follow God to a glorious end!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your willingness to lead me throughout my life.  I ask that You help me to see Your plan and hear Your voice as I strive to follow You each step of the way.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." -James 1:12 (NIV)
There are trials that we must face in our lives.  These trials will challenge us.  Even in the most stressful of times, we shouldn't give up!

When trials come, we can persevere because we have God on our side.  He is willing to help us stay strong and unbroken in His love and salvation.  We can love Him, ask for His help, and rely on His strength to carry us through.  In the end we will receive the crown of life that He has promised!

When facing a trial, don't break...rely on God to help you persevere!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the promise of the crown of life, an everlasting life in You.  Help me to persevere through every trial I face.  Wrap me in Your love and strength so that I can be strong and unbroken in You.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Plug in and Recharge

"May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints of the light." -Colossians 1:11-12 (ESV)
Many of us are surrounded by electronic devices - cell phones, computers, tablets, e-readers, and children's toys, to name a few.  When the batteries run low, we head for the plug to recharge them.  What happens when our batteries run low?  There is a power source that can recharge us as well!

When we feel like the batteries in our souls are running low, we can plug in to the power of God and His Word.  We can be strengthened through His never-ending might.  God can recharge our souls and power us up to face all of life's challenges and celebrate our triumphs in life.  The best news is that we don't have to wait until we're empty to get recharged, refueled, and inspired by His love, grace, and strength - He's with us any time and anywhere!

Take time to recharge by plugging in to the power of God!  Thank Him for recharging You!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for being willing to share Your power with me.  Recharge me and keep me powered up for You!  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Be a Child of God!

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." -John 1:12 (NASB)
If you have a child in your life, whether your own child, a niece or nephew, a grandchild, or a friend, think about how much you love that child.  What would you do for that child?  How do you nurture and protect that child?  If you have a child in your life, I'm guessing you love that child and want nothing but the best for him or her.

Each of us has the opportunity to be a child of God, all we have to do is believe in Him.  If we, as humans, have such loving and protective instincts about our children, just think about the love God has for us!  God is filled with love and has the power to protect each of us and guide us through whatever we face.

Take a moment to reaffirm your position as a child of God and then welcome the never-ending love and protection that He offers to you.

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for allowing me to be one of Your children.  Please surround me in Your love and protection in all I do.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Work for the Lord!

7/15/2014

"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve." -Colossians 3:23-24 (NASB)
Watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with my daughter reminds me of working heartily and happily.  The seven dwarfs seem cheerful as they are whistling on their way to work and while at work.  We may not always feel like whistling on our way to work or while we are at work, but maybe we should!

Whenever we go to work, whether at our job, around the house, or at church, we should go with the attitude of working for and serving the Lord.  This attitude should be one of cheerful service...maybe even whistling praises while we work!  We can remember that the Lord can use everything we do to benefit His kingdom.  Even if we do not see the connection between our work and God's Kingdom, we should work for Him and trust Him to use our work for good.

Work for the Lord in all things, always serving Him with your skills and talents, and "whistling" your praises to Him!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for all of the opportunities You provide me to work for You.  Please help me to use my skills, talents, and gifts from You to work for You and glorify You, whether at home, at my job, or at church.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Trustworthy Teachers

"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." -II Timothy 2:2 (NASB)
Throughout my studies, I have encountered many different theories and models of teaching and learning.  Each theory presents its researchers' ideas about what it means to be a teacher and learner.  While we may not all be called to enter the classroom as a teacher, these theories show that we are all teachers in some way.

Paul wrote a second letter to Timothy to encourage and support his ministry.  In this letter, Paul reminds Timothy to take what he has learned and continue to spread God's message and the good news of salvation through Jesus.  To use the words of some of my recent training, Timothy is to "scale his impact", to take what he has learned and broaden its impact by spreading the message further through enlisting others.

Timothy is to spread the message by entrusting it to faithful people who can teach others.  Each of us is called to be one of these faithful teachers.  We may or may not be in the classroom, a Sunday School room, part of a youth group, or at a summer camp, but we are still teachers!  As some learning theories suggest, we can be teachers by modeling behaviors and ideals consistent with our faith.

Take time to reflect on your faith and your role in being a teacher of the Good News!  "Scale your impact" by teaching others how to live for Christ so they can further His kingdom!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your Word and for salvation through Your Son.  Help be to be trustworthy and faithful as a teacher of Your love, forgiveness, salvation, and guidance.  Allow me to help others to learn, grow, and spread Your message.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Everlasting Love and Faith

"The Lord appeared from of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you." -Jeremiah 31:3 (AMP)
We are never alone, but sometimes the circumstances surrounding us may make us feel isolated or lonely.  Even in these circumstances, we should remember that God has loved us from the beginning and continues to love us and be faithful to each of us, no matter what we have done.

The prophet Jeremiah spoke to remind the people of Israel of God's faithfulness and everlasting love.  Jeremiah's message is true for us today, too.  We are never far from unconditional love, forgiveness, and faithfulness.  When we feel lonely or isolated, we can turn to God!  We can ask forgiveness when we sin.  We can feel comforted by His love.  As we experience God's love and faithfulness, we can thank God for this faithfulness and everlasting love.

Remember that God's love and faithfulness never end and He is always with you.  Turn to Him and thank Him for always being there for you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for You love and faithfulness, even when I don't deserve it.  Help me to spread Your love and faithfulness through all I do.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Content in All Circumstances

"Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.  I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:11-13 (NASB)
We never know what life may bring, but we can expect that there will be highs and lows.  On a recent visit to the Tantaquidgeon Museum of the Mohegan Nation, I learned that some of the decorations on baskets and bowls show a "wavy" line of hills and valleys as a reminder that life will have ups and downs.  We know that there will be good times and not so good times, but how do we handle them?

Philippians gives us a glimpse into handling all that life throws at us.  We need to remember, much like the Mohegans, that life does have cycles of ups and downs, but we also need to remember where our strength comes from in order to live through each circumstance.  In Philippians (4:13), Paul reminds us that in times of plenty or times of need, our strength comes from God.  Only God can provide us with the stability, wisdom, and strength to manage our situation and continue to move forward for Him.  We can make it through anything when we turn to and rely on God!

Don't let life get you too up or too down.  Turn to God for the wisdom and strength to help you continue moving on in His glory!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the strength to continue on and deal with anything I might face.  Help me to always hear Your wisdom and feel Your strength, but especially when I need them most.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Teachings for Life and Peace

7/11/2014

"My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you." -Proverbs 3:1-2 (NASB)
I was fortunate to grow up with parents (and grandparents) that introduced me to God's love, taught me well, and allowed me to grow and learn.  I appreciate some lessons more today than I may have when I first learned them, but many have stuck with me throughout time and over distance.  Now, I hope to teach my daughter well, giving her knowledge and understanding that will serve her well throughout her life.

As children of God, God teaches us, giving us commandments, His Word as the Bible, the Holy Spirit, experiences, and love that will help us throughout our lives.  We must remember the teaching and experiences God provides for us.  We must also apply the knowledge and understanding that we receive from God through our experiences, Bible reading, studies, worship, and sermons.  God gives us teaching to lengthen our days and provide us with peace, as long as we remember His lessons and apply them in our lives.

Remember His teaching and follow it through days and years of peace.

Prayer:
Dear God-
I am grateful for the teaching that I have been given through You and my parents.  Please help me to continue to teach Your lessons to my daughter and others entrusted to my care.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Having It All?

"Then He said to them, 'Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.'"
-Luke 12:15 (NASB)
As my daughter has gotten older, she has become aware of the toy aisles and clothing sections at the store.  She always finds something that she "needs" or wants.  While I enjoy seeing her excitement over new toys and clothes, I know that I must teach her the value of not getting everything she wants and knowing the difference between a need and a want.  Jesus teaches us the same lesson!

Jesus cares for us and He wants us to be happy, but He knows that out true happiness can't be found in possessions or things...no matter how much we think we "need" them!  Jesus tells us that we need to be careful of being greedy, covetous, or wanting more than we need.  Our possessions do not define our lives or who we are as a person.  Instead of seeking to define ourselves with our possessions, we should define ourselves by our faith in God, His Son, and salvation through Jesus' sacrifice and never-ending love!

Remember that our happiness and identity is not found in our things, but in our faith!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for providing for all of my needs.  Help me to see the differences between my needs and my wants and help me to be able to guide my daughter in knowing what is truly important.  Allow me to define myself by my faith in You.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Are You Ready?

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here I am.  Send me!'" -Isaiah 6:8 (NASB)
We are all called to service for God, though each of us to a different mission depending on our God-given talents.  Sometimes we can clearly hear the call and see the purpose.  Other times, the call may be harder to hear because of all the "noise" around us in our lives.  Either way, we should be ready to respond like Isaiah.

When the Lord called, Isaiah was ready.  Isaiah said, "Here I am.  Send me."  Whenever we get God's call, we should be ready to step up and accept His plan for us, without hesitation or excuses!  Serving God will lead to great rewards not only for ourselves, but also for the lives we touch in His name!

Hear the call and be ready to volunteer for His service!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Please help me to hear your call and see my role in Your plan.  Allow me to have the strength, courage, and wisdom to volunteer and to faithfully follow the mission laid out before me.  Through Jesus, who gives me strength, I pray, amen.

Be Silent and Trust

"And Moses said to the people, 'Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today.  For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.  The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.'"
-Exodus 14:13-14 (ESV)
Sometimes we may be faced with a problem or predicament.  Sometimes we try to figure things out on our own.  We try to fix things or make them better without calling on God for His help.  When we try to do things on our own, we can end up making things worse or losing our faith in God's works!

The Israelite people were following Moses out of Egypt and many were losing faith in the promise of deliverance from slavery.  Moses told them to be silent and allow the Lord to fight for them.  The people needed to believe in the works that they have seen and will see from God and not fear their troubles.

We can learn from the lessons of Moses and the Israelites.  When facing our own troubles, we can begin by asking for God's help.  After we ask, we need to be silent, believe in God's power, and allow Him to fight for us.  He can help us through all of our troubles and trials!

Ask for help, then stand firm, fear not, and silently wait for God to deliver you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your promises to me.  Help me to listen to Your promises and to continue to believe in You through all things.  Please allow me to be silent when I need to be so that You can take my troubles and trials and fight my battles for me.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Entertain Angels

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." -Hebrews 13:2 (NASB)
As we travel our journey of life, we never know who will cross our paths. One thing we should remember is that God has placed each of those people along our journey for a reason. When we interact with them, we should be shining with His love.

We may never know the impacts of even simple gestures. Smiling at someone, holding a door at the store, a wave or a hello may each seem inconsequential, but could turn around someone's day. We should be aware of how our actions reflect God's love.

Entertain angels by being kind to strangers, even in the simplest of things, and sharing a bit of God's love.

Prayer-
Dear God-
Thank You for Your love and all the ways you show it to me. Help me to share Your love with all that I encounter on my journey, even in the simplest of actions. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
