Hometown

"And they took offense at Him.  But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.' And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief." -Matthew 13:57-58 (NASB)
A hometown can mean different things to each of us.  A hometown can be that welcoming place filled with memories or sense of belonging and community.  A small hometown can also be a place that seems to smother us with too much attention.  Either way, our hometown usually helps define who we are as we grow and develop.

For Jesus, his hometown was not a welcoming place.  Not only did they not listen, they took offense at what He was saying.  Because of their disbelief, Jesus did not do many miracles in His hometown.  Maybe they didn't understand how the little boy they watched grow up could end up truly being the Son of God or how such "fame" could sprout from their town.

As we continue to worship Jesus today, we must beware not to exclude Him from His "hometown" in the church.  He is still alive with us.  He can still perform miracles.  We need to believe and be sure that He is honored and respected in His church!

Honor Jesus in the "hometown" of His church and throughout the world!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for sending Jesus to show me how to live, how to love, and how to be of service to others.  Please help me to always honor Him and honor You with my thoughts, words, and actions.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Admiration and Imitation

"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma." -Ephesians 5:1-2 (NASB)
It has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  Whether it's my daughter with her cousins or a students with their mentors, we often find ourselves imitating those that we look up to or admire.  It can be good when we imitate the good qualities we see around us, but we also need to be careful not to imitate the not so good qualities.

There is an easy way to know who to imitate.  When we look to Jesus, we see behaviors that are worthy of being imitated.  While we will never be perfect on our own, we can strive to live a loving life that includes following God, helping others, and making the world a better place.

Admire and imitate the examples of Jesus and lead a better life!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the example of Jesus.  Help me to imitate Him so I can live a Godly life, helping others and making the world a better place.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Truth and Love

"Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another." -Ephesians 4:25 (NASB)
Sometimes the truth can hurt and telling it can be difficult.  During those times when we must tell a difficult truth, it can be hard finding the right way to say it.  When we are faced with such a situation, we need to do it in love, remembering that we are all part of one another.

We are called to be honest and truthful, both in our relationship with God and our relationship with each other.  As members of the body of Christ, we are connected to one another.  Doing something that hurts another member of the body can hurt the body as whole.  We also need to face wrongs and not let them go unchecked and hurt the body.  The best way to keep the body strong is being truthful and loving!

Be truthful with one another in love!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for the Truth that is in You.  Help me to always speak Your Truth in a loving way so the body of Christ can grow stronger.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Wonderful Purpose!

"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well." -Psalms 139:13-14 (NASB)
We all have those days when things are hectic or things just don't seem to go right.  As we are rushing about or stuck trying to fix a series of disasters, we need to remember that we have a purpose.  God has made each of us and we are wonderfully made!

David reminds us in Psalm 139 that God has known us, formed us, and wonderfully made us!  God was working to form us before we were born and He continues to mold and form us throughout our lives.  God has a purpose for us and our lives.  When we are living our lives, we need to remember that we are wonderfully made and God is working in our lives.  We need to stop, acknowledge God's work in creating us, and follow God's guidance in our lives.

You are wonderfully made by God for His wonderful purpose!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for creating me.  Help me to remember that I am one of Your wonderful works and use me for Your purpose here on earth.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Safety Here

"I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one." -John 17:15 (NASB)

"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one, even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me." -John 17:20-21 (NASB)
There are many times in our lives when we consider safety, especially when working in jobs that can present certain risks.  We have safety guidelines to follow and government agencies to oversee safe working conditions.  When considering safety, we need to remember that our safety goes beyond just physical safety.

We also need to be prepared for spiritual safety.  One of Jesus' requests on our behalf is safety from the evil one.  We need both physical and spiritual protection from evil, but we also need to be present in the world to spread God's love.  As we go about our lives, we can echo Jesus' prayer, asking for safety from the evil one so we can remain in the world and serve God's Kingdom here and now!

Ask God to keep you safe and then get to work helping to build His Kingdom on earth!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for protecting me from the evil one.  Help me to continue to be safe so that I can serve you here and now.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Listen and Change

"Those whom I dearly and tenderly love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten.  I discipline and instruct them.  So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent, changing your mind and attitude." -Revelation 3:19 (AMP)
My daughter gets upset when she thinks she is in trouble.  She sometimes starts crying even before I can speak a word!  While she gets upset, I understand that the discipline I show is rooted in a love for her that is to guide her to be a better person.

As adults, we can still get upset when others point out our faults, even if they are trying to help.  We are reminded in Revelation (3:19) that God disciplines us or presents situations that point out our faults and flaws so we can fix them.  Whenever we are disciplined, we shouldn't get sad or upset, but we should embrace it with enthusiasm and a willingness to change and become better for God.  He is ready to help each of us become the best we can be, we just have to listen to Him and ask for His help to change!

Listen when God tells you your faults, then ask Him to help you become better!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me, even when You are disciplining me or pointing out my faults.  Help me to embrace the moments of discipline as opportunities to change and become better for and closer to You.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Brilliant Message

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." -John 13:34-35 (NASB)
I recently watched a Larry King interview of Garth Brooks.  Larry King noted that Garth talked mentioned God throughout the interview.  Larry questioned Garth on his beliefs.  Garth responded that one way he knows God exists is in the brilliance of Jesus' "new" commandment to love.

Garth explains his interpretation that when Jesus gave His new commandment, the message was simple and universal - a message that was beyond human origin.  Garth explains that everyone can follow and enact the principle, whether rich or poor, black or white, young or old, handicapped or not, each of us can show love.  No matter who we are or what we have, when we love God, we can show His love.  When we show His love, others can know God and spread His love!

Show God's love so love can spread!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank you for loving me, flaws and all.  Help me to show to others the same love shown to me through Jesus.  In His name I pray, amen.

Truthfully Free!

"So Jesus said to those Jews who believed in Him, 'If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples.  And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.'" -John 8:31-32 (AMP)
There are people that spend large amounts of time and money searching for truth or trying to be free.  While we can search the world over for truth and freedom, there is only one source of what is true.  We don't have to search to know what it is!

Truth is established by God and He doesn't hide the it from us.  We can find His truth in the life, death, and resurrection of His Son.  We can find His truth written in His Word.  We can find His truth by talking and listening to Him.  We can even find His truth written on our hearts.  We don't have to spend time trying to find truth, instead we are free to live in God's truth that is already revealed to us!

Find God's revealed truth and be truthfully free!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for loving me and showing me Your truth.  Help me to live freely in Your truth, loving others and serving You.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Thankfulness and Praises!

"Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.  And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." -Hebrews 13:15-16 (NASB)
There are times that watching or reading the news is depressing.  The reports seem to highlight all of the problems facing the world.  In those times when things seem to be bad and getting worse, we should stop and look for all of the good that God provides in our lives.

Each day we have experiences, whether big or small, that remind us of God's presence in our lives.  He is greater than any of the bad news we see or hear about.  Realizing God's greatness is only part of what we need to do to honor Him.  We also need to praise Him, allowing our voices and lips to give Him the "fruit" of thanksgiving and praise!  After our lips offer praise, then our actions can follow - showing praise and thankfulness through good deeds and sharing in God's name.

Look for good and praise God for His presence in your life!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for being present in my life.  I give You praise and glory for all of the good in my life and pray that You are glorified through my good works.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Gentle Spirit

"Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.  The Lord is near." -Philippians 4:5 (NASB)
My daughter recently told me about a child that is new to my her class.  My daughter told me that the teachers and students are nice to the girl, but the new girl sometimes gets sad because she misses her mommy.  My daughter explained how she tries to talk to the girl and make her feel better.  My daughter's concern for the new student in her class exhibits a gentle and caring spirit that we should all strive for in our lives.

Others should know of our gentle spirit, but it shouldn't be something that we need to broadcast or brag about.  Others should be able to see and sense our gentle spirit through our words and actions.  When we root our words and actions in God's love, those around us should feel comforted by gentleness and caring.  Our actions should help those around us feel the closeness of God and His love!

Be gentle and caring so others can sense the love of God coming through you!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for caring for me and loving me.  Help my words and actions to be gentle and caring so others can know of Your love.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Everyone's Dreams

"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." -Philippians 2:3-4 (NASB)
We each have dreams.  Sometimes our focus is on achieving our own dreams, but we should also think about the dreams of others.  Motivational speaker Les Brown is quoted as saying, "Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours."  We can all achieve more when we act with care for each other.

Paul reminds us that our actions should be based on humility, love, and caring for others.  Before we act, we should think about the impacts of our words and actions.  Acting in love, we should not only look out for our own interests, but also for the interests of those around us.  When we reach out to help others in love, we can achieve all of our dreams!

Reach out in God's love to help others achieve their dreams while achieving your dream!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your love that allows me to love others and help them.  Help me to remember to act in humility and love and allow others to see You as the source of my love.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

The Right Tools

"'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.  The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." -Mark 12:30-31 (NASB)
Whenever there is a project to do around the house, the first step always seems to be rounding up the right tools.  Whether the tools are on the work bench, in the shed, or somewhere else, the job can't be done right without them.  When we are getting ready to do God's work, we have to have the right tools, too.

Jesus answered the religious leaders of His time when asked about the greatest commandments.  Jesus' response not only tells us the greatest commandments, but also the first tools that we need if we are going to get to work for God.  The first tool is a love for God that involves all of our being - our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  The second tool is a love for our neighbor and ourselves.  With these tools and His Word, we are ready to started working for God!

Take God's Word, your love for Him, and your love for your neighbor and self, then get working for God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your love.  Help me to show You how much I love You and to use Your love to work for You here on earth.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

His Foundation Can't Be Shaken!

"Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken." -Psalms 55:22 (NASB)
There are times when people or events seem to be placed in our path just to rattle us or get us worked up.  Even though these things may seem beyond our control, our reactions to them are not.  Instead of getting upset, we can turn to God for guidance, support, and appropriate action.

We are reminded in Psalms (55:22) that we should trust in God and give Him all of our burdens and troubles.  When faced with people or situations that make us upset, we need to take a step back and allow God to take over.  He can give us the strength and understanding to know how to deal with these people or situations without losing control.  All we have to say to God is, "But I will trust in You!"

Give God the burden and be secure on His foundation that can't be shaken!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for providing a foundation that cannot be shaken.  Help me to allow You to take control so that I can follow Your guidance to appropriate action.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

No Greater Love

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8 (NASB)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." -John 3:16 (NASB)
Maya Angelou is quoted as saying, "In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours.  In all the world, there is no love for you like mine."  While this quote has become popular for anniversaries, weddings, and Valentine's Day, it may be the perfect prayer to bring us closer to God.

God has demonstrated His love for us.  Even though we are sinners, He sent His Son to die for each and every one of us.  Through the death and resurrection of His Son, we can be forgiven and cleansed of our sins.  There is no other heart in the world that loves us more than God's.  It is up to us to make sure our love for Him is the greatest love in our hearts.  We can show our love for God through praising Him and choosing to accept Jesus and follow God's plan for our lives!

Live for God so He can see that there is no greater love for Him than yours!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your love and it being the greatest love ever.  Praise and love be to You!  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Red and White Hearts

"'Come now, and let us reason together.' Says the Lord, 'Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.'" -Isaiah 1:18 (NASB)
My daughter has been excited for weeks about the Valentine's party at school.  She filled out her cards and we bought candy in red hearts.  She learned that Valentine's Day is a time for telling others that we love them.  While we might celebrate with red, pink, and white heart decorations, our hearts are what truly matter at this time of year and always!

When thinking about love, we need to remember the greatest act of love: the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.  It is because of Jesus' gift that our sinful hearts can be cleansed.  Our hearts, stained with scarlet and crimson of sin, can be purified and made as white as snow.  Jesus offers us the greatest valentine of all time, all we have to do is accept it!

Accept Jesus and turn your red stained heart to pure white!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for the gift of salvation given through the sacrifice of Your Son.  Please turn my crimson-stained heart into a heart that is pure and white.  Through Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.

Nice Words!

2/13/2015

"Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace, God's favor, to those who hear it." -Ephesians 4:29 (AMP)
There are many times when unkind words are spoken, so often that we may not even notice.  As we have tried to teach my daughter the importance of kind words, she often points out when she hears something that is not nice.  She is more tuned in to people's words than we are, but she easily points out the unkind words she hears on T.V., in a song, or from the people around her.

It is important that we take the time to use kind and encouraging words.  We are called to talk so that we build each other up, not talking in ways that tear each other down.  God will bless words that are aimed at the spiritual progress of ourselves and others.  As we speak in love, our wholesome words can show God's favor and make the world a better place for all who hear them!

Use nice words that are blessings and give God's favor to all who hear them!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your blessings and favor.  Help my words be kind so that they can help build others up and bring them closer to You.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

"And He was saying to them all, 'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.'" -Luke 9:23 (NASB)
As the snow falls, we are reminded that getting where we need to go sometimes involves a little extra work.  Whether it is clearing the driveway, cleaning off the car, or making the way (slow but sure) through the accumulating snow and slush, our travels can require a little extra attention.  We have to get ready and be ready to go!

As followers of Jesus, we also have to be prepared and ready to travel the road that is before us.  Sometimes the road is clear, but there are times when we need to use caution.  When we are ready and set to head out as followers of Jesus, the devil can make the travels difficult.  With God by our side, we can pick up our cross, get ready, and go for Jesus!

Pick up your cross, get ready to go, and travel with God by your side!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for always traveling with me.  Help me to pick up my cross and be ready to follow Jesus every day!  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

A Wish

"May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ." -II Thessalonians 3:5 (NASB)
Watching or listening to news reports isn't always encouraging.  Sometimes the needs of the world and those close around us seem too great for us to tackle.  When we look at those around us, we can pray a prayer similar to Paul's wish for the church of Thessalonica.

Paul's hope was that the people of Thessalonica would be directed to the love of God and reassurance in Jesus Christ.  Even though we may feel small and unable to help, a prayer for hearts rooted in God's love and salvation through Jesus can be a valuable contribution.  Praying for God's direction, love, and redemption is a contribution that we are all able to make!

Make Paul's wish yours: May the Lord direct our hearts to God's love and reassurance in salvation through Jesus!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Please direct all of our hearts to Your love and into the everlasting salvation offered through the sacrifice of Your Son.  Through Him I pray, amen.

"For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." -I Corinthians 1:18 (NASB)
When I first moved from Pennsylvania to Connecticut, there were phrases and names of things that weren't the same.  Whether ordering a hoagie (grinder) or office supplies, the message wasn't always clear.  I expected some differences, but others I had to learn.  The message of the cross is one that we sometimes think everyone should understand, but that is not the case.

The message of the cross can be clear to us that know its power and are being saved by Jesus' sacrifice and God's grace.  We know the message and we understand it, but we also need to remember that the message is not always understood by everyone.  When others' see our faith as foolishness, we need to be patient.  We can show others the power of God's saving grace through loving words and actions so that one day they can understand the one true message of the cross!

Let your words and actions show the true power of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your saving grace.  Help my words and actions be loving ones that show others the true message and power of the cross.  Through Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.

More than Predictions and Doubt

"No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known." -John 1:18 (NIV)

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." -Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
It is winter and the snow has been piling up outside.  More snow is expected and forecasters try their best to predict the amounts of accumulation.  When predictions vary and the phone call cancelling school comes before the snow begins, there can be doubt about the decision made to cancel school.  Just as it is easy to doubt things we don't know or haven't seen, it is also easy to know and believe in something we have seen.

John (1:18) reminds us that no one has ever seen God, but even though we have never seen God, we can believe in Him and know He exists.  Jesus was sent to earth and witnessed by many people.  Jesus explained things about God, so that we can understand and be closer to Him.  Jesus was seen and heard.  Jesus' teachings, life, death, and resurrection give us reason for faith and hope for eternal life.  We don't have to worry about predictions and forecasts, Jesus is real and so is our Salvation!  We can know God exists and believe all that the Bible tells us!

Know and believe in all that Jesus has shown and taught you!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for sending Jesus to reveal more about You to me.  Help me to continue to learn and know more about You and to share my knowledge of You with others.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

He's Alive!

"Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." -Hebrews 7:25 (NASB)
Last summer my daughter got five caterpillars that she successfully raised into butterflies.  We released them in the yard and saw them only a couple of times throughout the remainder of the summer.  One day last week, while playing inside on a cold, snowy day, she stopped to ask about the butterflies.  I replied that I didn't know where they were or what they were doing.  She reassured me that they were still alive, even if they were in Heaven.

Sometimes we need to be reminded that Jesus is still alive.  Like the caterpillars that butterflies remind us, Jesus went through a transformation from death on the cross to resurrected Savior.  He conquered death and still lives!  It is because He lives that He is able to bring us closer to God, interceding on our behalf with the Heavenly Father.  If Jesus was not alive, He'd be no different than our other ancestors that have gone before us, but He is ALIVE!
When we feel like we are drifting away from God, we need to remember Jesus is alive and willing to help save us and bring us closer to God, the Father!

Remember that Jesus is alive and ready to save you and bring you closer to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Jesus being alive and ready to intercede with You on my behalf.  Help me to draw closer to You through Your Son, Jesus Christ.  In His name I pray, amen.

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." -John 16:33 (NASB)
In our lives, we each face our own problems and issues.  Sometimes we may reach a point of feeling overwhelmed or confused by all that we are facing.  During these times, we need to we can be comforted that Jesus came and conquered the trials of life on earth.

We know and Jesus knows that life can have its ups and downs.  As Jesus said, life in the world can be filled with tribulations.  The good news from Jesus is that He has overcome the world and that victory can be ours through Him!  When we believe, putting our faith and trust in Jesus, we can have courage and strength to move forward with Jesus by our side.  He will give us peace in the midst of our trials and will reward us when His time is right!

Have faith in Jesus and experience peace in trying times!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for sending Jesus to earth so that He could conquer the trials and tribulations of living as a human.  Help me to take comfort in His strength and give me peace and courage so I can endure the troubling times I experience.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Fill Up Your Heart!

"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart." -Luke 6:45 (NASB)

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God." -I John 4:7 (NASB)
I recently saw a quote that said the truth is one thing that can't be hidden.  Sometimes we think we can hide what we are thinking with a nice smile or pleasant words.  Often the only ones we fool with the smiles and words are ourselves!

Even if we think we are doing or saying the right things, the intentions of our hearts are soon revealed.  Our body language and the tone of our words can say more than the words themselves.  What is in our hearts soon bubbles to the surface for all to see!

To speak love, we need to have hearts filled with love.  Love comes from one source: our loving God.  He is the source of love, giving us love so that we can share it by loving each other.  When we feel evil start to creep into our hearts, we need to talk to God and fill up our hearts with love!

Fill up your heart with God's love so your words will be filled with love and goodness!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me.  Thank You for sharing Your love and working in my life.  Help me to share the love that You have given me in all of my words and actions.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Mentor

"Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." -John 1:12-13 (NIV)
Having a special child in your life can be a rewarding experience.  However, there are some children that are searching for a mentor or role model.  As can be seen in many schools with mentoring programs, one caring adult can make a big difference in a child's life!

As adults, we still need mentors.  We might find a professional mentor at work or a spiritual mentor at church. In all areas of our lives, there is one mentor that stands above the rest and can lead us to eternal life: Jesus Christ.  Once we accept Jesus as our Savior, we become God's children.  When we are struggling with burdens or celebrating joys, we can turn to Jesus and God.  By listening and following these mentors, our lives can definitely be changed for the better!

Accept Jesus and begin the greatest mentor relationship ever!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for sending Jesus so that I can be one of Your children.  Please help me to follow the mentoring and advice that Your Son has provided so that I can help those around me.  Through Jesus, my Savior mentor, I pray, amen.

Frustration and anger are real feelings.  There are events and people in our lives that can trigger these emotions.  While getting angry isn't always bad, letting the anger take hold in your heart is dangerous.

Paul reminds us in his letter to the Colossians (3:15) that we should let peace from Jesus Christ rule in our hearts.  As a member of Christ's body, we should strive to show love and be peaceful.  We can correct each other's behavior and remind each other of God's expectations.  When those reminders cause frustration and anger, we need to turn it over to God and allow His peace to fill our hearts.  Once God fills our hearts with peace, we can give thanks to Him!

Don't let anger take root in your heart.  Turn to God and let peace rule!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for Your forgiveness and for the fellowship with others that you provide for me.  Help me to remember that when I get angry, I need to turn it over to You so it doesn't take over my heart and Your peace can rule.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
