The ability of people to grow and become better was a recent conversation I had with my students. We know that we make mistakes and we sin. However, we need to know better and be committed to change. As Maya Angelou famously wrote, "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
Doing better requires us to admit when we are wrong and to ask God for forgiveness. However, it also means we need to pray for the strength to forgive others. When we commit to changing and doing better, we need to forgive so that we can move on and we can be forgiven. Through forgiveness, both giving and receiving, we can shed burdens that weigh us down and allow us to do more for God's Kingdom!
Forgive, be forgiven, and do better for yourself and others!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank you for forgiving me. Help me to forgive others and to do better for Your Kingdom. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
