Live in Power, Not Fear

11/30/2015

"For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, 'Abba! Father!'" -Romans 8:15 (NASB)
Sometimes we live in fear.  We are afraid to try new things or venture outside of our comfort zones.  There may be many reasons that we are hesitant to go for it, but we should always remember that we have the spirit of God on our side!

No matter what we are facing, we are God's children.  He is ready to protect and sustain us through whatever we are facing.  We have been adopted by the most powerful, most gracious, most merciful, and most loving being!  We shouldn't be timid or fearful.  Instead, we should cry out to God, our Father, and then accept His embrace.  With God on our side, we can call on Him and then go for it!

Don't live in fear, rather live in the powerful and loving embrace of God, your Heavenly Father!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for being there for me.  Help me to remember to call on You and allow Your power and love to work in my life to overcome fear.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Believe and Celebrate!

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." -Hebrews 11:6 (NASB)
The Christmas season often allows us to consider miracles and the belief in things unseen.  We may think about children hoping for a visit from Santa or we may think of miraculous events performed by God.  As we think about the Christmas season, we often anticipate the birth of Jesus.  Advent helps us count down the time until we celebrate the birth of our Savior, but what is this celebration without belief?

We are reminded in Hebrews that we cannot please God or seek Him if we do not have faith and do not believe in Him.  We cannot truly celebrate Christmas without belief in Him.  All of our preparations and celebrations of Christmas are pointless if we do not believe in God, His Son, and the offer of salvation to each and every one of us.  God does reward those that seek Him, those that admit their sin and ask for forgiveness through Jesus Christ, but it all starts with a belief in God and the truth of His Word.  Without belief in God, we will miss the true meaning and celebration of the Christmas season!

Believe in God's gift of His Son, Jesus Christ our Redeemer, and truly celebrate this Christmas season!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your faithfulness.  Help me to be faithful to You and to follow Your way.  Allow me to celebrate the true meaning of the Christmas season now and forever.  Through Jesus Christ I pray, amen.

Belief or Wrath

"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." -John 3:36 (NASB)
There are times when my daughter has a hard time making decisions.  During these times, she often says, "My brain isn't thinking about deciding."  Sometimes we don't have to make immediate or important decisions, but there are other times when we need to make decisions because of the consequences .  One such time is deciding to follow Jesus!

The most important decision we can make is choosing to follow God and receiving forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus.  When we believe in Jesus with all of our hearts and minds, then we are saved and have eternal life.  If we do not believe, then we will be subject to the wrath of God.  Even if other decisions are difficult, the decision to follow Jesus shouldn't be difficult.  We should choose to believe and follow Him!

Decide to follow Jesus and receive eternal life instead of wrath!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your Son and for my salvation.  Help me to always make the decision to follow You.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Thankful Chores

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him, bless His name.  For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations." -Psalms 100:4-5 (NASB)
Recently, as I was raking leaves in the yard, I was thinking about the task of raking and cleaning up the yard.  I would rather let the leaves compost instead of raking and bagging them, but my neighbors wouldn't want my leaves in their yards.  As I was raking, I started to think differently about the task I was doing.  What if we reconsider our "to do" list and count the items as blessings instead of chores?

There are times when many of us don't like doing the chores.  Whether cleaning, laundry, yard work, or whatever else is on our "to do" list, there are usually other things we would prefer to be doing.  However, if we think more about our chores, we can see all that we have to be thankful for each and every day.  If we are cleaning the house or doing work in the yard, we can be thankful that we have a home and yard.  If we are doing laundry, we can be thankful for the clothes we have to wear.  If we are cooking or washing dishes, we can be thankful for the food that we have to eat.  Each item on our "to do" list gives us a reason to enter God's gates with thanksgiving and praise.  We can bless His name for loving us and providing for us, even if we are doing chores!

Be thankful for chores that show how much God has blessed you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for blessing me and showing me that each chore on my list is really a sign that You have blessed me and provided for me.  All praise and thanks to You!  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Peaceful, Thankful Heart

"A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." -Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)
It seems as though the Christmas shopping season begins earlier each year.  The commercials and sales start trying to lure us into with great deals and the idea that we either need the items for ourselves or our loved ones.  Instead of getting caught up in what we think we need, we should look at how to have a peaceful heart and life-filled body!

One way to help our hearts be at peace is to look at all the Lord has provided for us in our lives and then be thankful for each and every blessing.  We can count numerous blessings in our lives, whether big or small.  Recognizing how we are blessed is the first step.  Giving thanks to God should follow.  We shouldn't wait for Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays to give thanks.  We should praise and give thanks to God each and every day, then we should share our blessings with others!

Have a peaceful heart by having a thankful heart!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for all of the blessings in my life.  Help me to share the blessings in my life with others.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Lighter Load

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." -Matthew 11:28-30 (NASB)
We may see problems wherever we may turn.  The news is filled with stories and images that show the darker side of humanity.  I recently saw a quote from Mr. Rogers that reminds us that when we see tragedy, we should also look for helpers.  Whenever we are tired and worn out, we can look to our ultimate helper.

No matter how dark the situation around us may seem, God can see us through it.  He has sent His Son to be our helper, to lighten our load.  Instead of evil, anger, stress, and darkness, we can take on a humble, gentle, and lighter burden.  We can find rest for our minds and souls by trusting in Jesus and allowing Him to help us. We can't let ourselves be overwhelmed by darkness, we have to be willing to look for our Helper and allow Him to give us an easier yoke to carry!

Look to Jesus as your Helper and allow Him to give you a lighter load to bear!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me, for sending Your Son to help me, and for being willing to give me a lighter burden to bear.  Please help me to remember to turn all things over to You and to allow You to help.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

What are you looking at?

"For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." -II Corinthians 4:17-18 (NASB)
We sometimes get caught up in little problems or issues that prevent us from seeing the bigger picture.  We may not be able to look beyond what we are experiencing in our own lives or our own organizations.  When we are looking around, we need to take care to not focus on the here and now and miss the eternal consequences!

We experience different situations in our lives that are uncomfortable.  These situations may challenge us or cause us to stop and learn different lessons.  When we are faced with challenges, we should not lose sight of the bigger picture.  We should each stop and ask ourselves, "What are you looking at?"  We can then focus on God's Word and His plan for our lives.  Even when we may not physically see God's plan and the rewards that await us, we can be reassured that He will always provide for us both here and now and for all of eternity!

Look at the "unseen" and know that God will provide forever!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and reminding me to always be searching for You and Your way for my life.  Help me to trust and follow You, even if in things I cannot see.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Say Nice Things

"For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.  For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" -Galatians 5:13-14 (NASB)
A friend was recently commenting to my daughter about how my daughter easily makes friends.  My daughter said, "You just have to say nice things to people."   Our friend reminder her that if you treat others the way you want to be treated, it can be easy to make friends.

Whenever we think about how to treat others, we should think about one word: love.  The Bible reminds us that we should love our neighbors as ourselves and treat others the way we want to be treated.  Our actions toward others should be rooted in love.  We should not only say nice things, but also show actions rooted in God's love.  When our words and actions toward ourselves are rooted in God's love, we are sure to make friends!

Treat others how you want to be treated...with God's love!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and showing me love.  Help me to always show Your love to all those around me.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Vanishing Act?

"And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight." -Acts 1:9 (NASB)
One common magic act is making something "disappear" or vanish.  While we know there is a trick or illusion involved, our brains can be fooled into thinking that the object or person is gone.  The observers at the ascension of Jesus may have been looking for the "trick" or they may have been in shock to see Jesus rising into the clouds, but they were witnessing the power and greatness of God!

Jesus rose from the dead.  He ascended into Heaven.  Even though He rose into the clouds and out of sight, He didn't vanish.  He is still with us each and every day.  We can see Him in the actions of others.  We can feel Him in our heart.  We know when He stirs in our souls.  We shouldn't feel alone.  Even if we don't physically see Jesus, He is with us.  He is by our sides and ready to walk with us and help us through everything we face!

Jesus didn't vanish.  He's always there for you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sins.  Help me to always know that He did not vanish, but are always present in my life.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Judging and Standards

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged.  For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." -Matthew 7:1-2 (NASB)
As we encounter people and situations throughout our day, it is easy to make quick judgments.  Sometimes we make these judgments before we even have information about the person or situation.  Even though it can be easy to make judgments, we must beware of falling into being judgmental.

Jesus warns us about making judgments.  When we make judgments, Jesus reminds us that we will be held to the same standards as those judgments.  The advice that Jesus gives sounds simple.  He tells us not to judge.  Jesus knows that we cannot resist the temptation to judge on our own, but He is ready to help us.  Whenever we find ourselves judging others, we can call on Jesus to help us stop.  We can ask for His forgiveness, so we won't be judged on our own standards.  Through Jesus we can avoid judging and He can help us to live up to His perfect standards!

Call on Jesus to help you avoid judging others and to help you reach His standards!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for forgiving me and for not judging me with the standards I sometimes use.  Please help me to avoid judging others and instead show Your love.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Don't Worry...There's Room!

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.  If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." -John 14:1-3
When we are expecting company or house guests, we take time to prepare.  Maybe we do a little extra cleaning, we straighten up and hide some clutter.  We often want to make our visitors comfortable, able to feel at home in our homes.

We try to make our house guests comfortable, but our homes cannot compare to what awaits us in Heaven!
While we are busy here on earth, Jesus is preparing our rooms in Heaven.  If we believe in Jesus and have committed ourselves to God, then we do not have to worry about what will happen next.  Jesus has told us that He has taken care of our heavenly homes and one day He will come back to take us there.  In the meantime, we don't have to worry, Jesus has reassured us that there will always be room for us with Him!

Don't worry, but believe and know that Jesus is preparing a place for you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and preparing a place for me.  Help me to not worry, but to remember that You are in control and always have room for me.  In Jesus I pray, amen.

"For by their own sword they did not possess the land, and their own arm did not save them, but Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, for You favored them." -Psalms 44:3 (NASB)
There are many things we try to accomplish.  Whether small things, tasks that are part of our daily routine, items on a to do list, or larger goals, we try to get things done.  Looking at all there is to do or accomplish, we need to turn to God.

God can help us accomplish more than we could ever imagine!  With God's light, power, and presence in our lives, He can use our bodies, minds, and works to further His Kingdom and bring glory to Him.  When we feel like we are fighting and struggling to see things through to the end, we can turn to God in prayer and then allow Him to save us.  We can be accomplished through relying on Him!

Be accomplished by allowing God's light and presence to transform your life!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for all that I have accomplished because of You.  Please continue to guide me and use me for Your Kingdom.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Presenting...Approved!

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." -II Timothy 2:15 (NASB)
My daughter likes to have "fashion shows".  The fashion show always begins with an introduction..."Presenting _____".  The title changes depending on the outfit or costume.  Even though I know who is coming, the presentation is important!

When we approach God, we are presenting ourselves.  God knows each of us better than we know ourselves, but He still wants us to present ourselves as redeemed and approved beings in Him.  Through His Son, Jesus Christ, we do not have to be ashamed.  We are made new and perfect in God's grace, mercy, and everlasting truth.  We need to live and present ourselves as forgiven and redeemed people!

Presenting...YOU...the forgiven, redeemed, unashamed, God-approved you!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your truth and promises.  Help me to live a life redeemed by Your grace and mercy shown through Your Son!  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Hearing the Word

"But what does it say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' -that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.'" -Romans 10:8-10 (NASB)

"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." -Romans 10:17 (NASB)
One of the "new" skills addressed by school standards are speaking and listening.  It may seem that speaking and listening come naturally, but that isn't always the case.  To truly listen, requires taking the time to really hear what is said or understand what is read.  When we read the Bible or attend worship, we need to truly listen!

God presents His message to us in different ways, whether we read it, hear it, or experience it.  In all of these ways, God is trying to get our hearts to hear His message.  Once we hear God's Word, we are called to respond to it.  Hearing God can give us faith and stir our hearts.  In this faith we can then confess our sins, experience God's love, believe in God's plan for our Salvation, and experience all God has to offer us for eternity!  By hearing God, we can have faith and eternal life!

Truly hear God's Word, then have faith and accept Salvation!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and teaching me.  Help me to truly hear what You are telling me in Your Word, in my heart, and through my experiences.  Through Jesus, my Redeemer, I pray, amen.

Tomorrow or Today?

"So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own." -Matthew 6:34 (NASB)
As I get older, it seems that time is speeding up.  Whether the days are filled with routines or random errands, time slips by and it is easy to let worry begin to pile up.  When we get caught up in all there is to do, we need to remember to not worry about tomorrow...or today!

When we get caught up in worry, our lives can be affected.  Our health, relationships, and spiritual well-being can all be impacted.  With everything that happens around us, it is natural to worry about what is happening today or what will be happening tomorrow, but Jesus reminds us that we shouldn't be overly concerned with what is to come.  When we start to worry about tomorrow or today, we can turn to God for comfort, knowing that He is by our side and will take care of us.  We just have to call on Him and have faith in His grace, mercy, glory, and power!

Don't let tomorrow or today worry you, instead turn to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for always being there for me.  Please take away my worry and help me to be the best I can be for You today and tomorrow.  Through Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.

Bad to Good

"'As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about his present result, to preserve many people alive.  So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.' So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them." -Genesis 50:20-21 (NASB)
We may experience times when it feels like others are out to get us.  Whether because of our actions or the perceptions of others, we may be targeted.  Even though others may mean to cut us down or stop our good works, God can turn it around to accomplish His will!

One example of God using harmful plans for His will is the life of Joseph.  Joseph's brothers meant harm for Joseph, who they saw as their father's favorite.  God used the plans of Joseph's brother for good, eventually saving the lives of Joseph's family during a famine.  In our lives, we need to respond like Joseph.  We should trust that God will be active in protecting us and using the circumstances in our lives for His will.  We also need to be gracious and show God's love when dealing with those that tried to hurt us!

Allow God to use a bad situation for His good!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for protecting me, even when others are trying to cause harm.  Please help me to trust that You will use whatever I am facing for Your good and glory.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Pray with One Mind

"When they had entered the city, they went up to the upper room where they were staying; that is Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.  These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers." -Acts 1:13-14 (NASB)
As a middle school teacher, it is fascinating to see the development of young people as they navigate their own beliefs and the social structures around them.  They want personal identities and relationships with their peers, but they also want to be part of the larger group.   Our spiritual growth and relationships can follow a similar course.

Our relationships with and beliefs in God can be very personal.  God wants each of us to know Him personally, but we also have shared experiences with other believers.  Jesus' closest followers each had a unique relationship with Him.  They were also joined together in their love of and respect for Jesus.  They shared the belief that He was the Messiah, a Savior for all of us.  As we each strive to have a personal relationship with God, we need to remember the shared experiences and beliefs that allow us to join together in praying with one mind!

Build your personal relationship with God and join with other believers in praying with one mind!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and listening to me.  Help me to continue to grow in my personal relationship with You and allow me to join together with other believers in shared experiences and beliefs.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Hope and Waiting

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life." -Proverbs 13:12 (NASB)
My daughter has been waiting for a couple of weeks for her loose tooth to eventually fall out.  She would wiggle it with her tongue.  Now that it's fallen out, she's waiting for the tooth fairy!  As adults, we wait, too.  We may wait on our paycheck.  We may wait for a loved one to return.  Waiting on something can be hard, but we have to have hope!

When we don't get what we are waiting for right away, our hearts may start to sink.  However we shouldn't give up hope.  God knows the perfect timing for everything in our life.  He knows what we need and when we need it.  God is watching out for us and He will fulfill our needs and desires in His time.  When He does give us what we need and want, when He gives us life and purpose for our lives, we need to praise Him!

Have hope and wait for the perfect timing and gifts of God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for knowing me and what I need.  Help me to trust Your perfect timing.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen

One Day...Start Today!

"And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one." -Zechariah 14:9 (NASB)
Procrastination is one of the common attributes of a middle school student.  Whenever they are able, they like to put as much off until tomorrow as possible.  Sometimes we are the same way.  We don't always seize the opportunities that are placed before us.

The Bible tells us that one day God will be recognized as the one and only king of all the earth.  Many of us look forward to that day, but sometimes we don't proclaim Him as King today!  Maybe we think we can't do it.  Maybe we think that there will be time to do it later.  We procrastinate instead of making a difference in the lives of others.  When we have a chance to proclaim God as the king of Heaven and earth, we shouldn't wait!  Through words, actions, and prayer, we should work to showing God's love, compassion, and glory and proclaim Him as king today and every day!

Don't wait for the one day when God is recognized as the one and only King, start proclaiming Him as King today!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being the King of my life and of all the earth.  Help me to always proclaim You as King, today and every day!  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

"The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by Him we cry, 'Abba, Father.'  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." -Romans 8:15-16 (NIV)
The presence of an adult often changes the behavior of children.  As a teacher, my students sometimes think that I am there to spoil the fun with "rules" and expectations.  Whenever we think of God as our Father and teacher, we may associate Him with rules and expectations, but God's ways aren't meant to keep us down!

The plans and rules in my classroom are present to provide structure to help my students succeed.  God's Spirit isn't meant to subdue us, it is meant to guide us to a better life!  God isn't waiting to ruin our fun.  He is there to help, support, love, and forgive us.  God's rules and ways are meant to keep us safe and allow us to learn, explore, and grow closer to Him.  As God's children, we can be freed from sin and allowed to flourish with God as our Father!

Be adopted by God, our Heavenly Father, and live in His Spirit!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being my Heavenly Father.  Help me to live in Your Spirit and allow others to experience Your love through me.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Blame Jesus?

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." -II Corinthians 5:21 (NASB)
When teaching middle schoolers, it seems as though no one is ever at fault!  There is always someone or something to blame.  While blaming others may seem to be the easy way out, it often makes things in life more complicated.  Fortunately, God has a plan for our lives that allows us to shift the blame for all of our sins!

God knows that we cannot be perfect.  He has provided a plan of redemption for our lives.  God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our perfect sacrifice.  We can be redeemed because Jesus has taken all of our sin on Himself.  We can become righteous through trusting in God's plan and asking for forgiveness through His Son!

Jesus has taken the blame so you can become righteous!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for redeeming me through the sacrifice of Your perfect Son.  In Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." -Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
When I was in high school I was blessed to be part of the orchestras for six musical productions.  One of the musicals I was part of contained a song called "You Gotta Have Heart!"  Reading scripture sometimes brings to mind that song.

When reading the Bible, there are many times that our hearts our referenced.  We are to hide God's Word in our hearts, we should have loving hearts and servant hearts, and we should guard our hearts!  It is important to fill our hearts with God's love and His Truth.  We must also be ready to defend our hearts against the false claims of the world.  When our heart is right with God, we can be sure that His blessings and eternal life will flow from it!

It's all about your heart...fill it with God and guard it against the devil!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for giving me Your love and Your Truth.  Please help me to keep my heart centered on You and protected from the evil that comes my way.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Accomplish Much Together!

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.  The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." -James 5:16 (NASB)
Many of us struggle with two common problems: We don't always like to admit our shortcomings and we don't always like to ask for help.  When we are part of a supportive community, these things can become easier.  Reaching the point of admitting our shortcomings and asking for help can open new doors and be beneficial for ourselves and for those around us.

In James we are reminded that we should be there for one another, ready to support each other in prayer.  When we admit that we have sinned and then pray for each other, we can be healed.  The healing can also extend to our relationships.  By caring and praying for each other, we can build up the body of Christ.  Together, we can join our hearts in service to God and accomplish much for the betterment of each other, those in our community, and the Kingdom of God on earth!

Admit your shortcomings, pray for each other, and accomplish much together in the name of the Lord!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for saving me and redeeming me.  Help me to admit my shortcomings, pray for those around me, and live to accomplish much in Your name for Your Kingdom.  Through Jesus, my Redeemer, I pray, amen.

"One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike.  Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.  He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God." -Romans 14:5-6 (NASB)
Each day we face many choices.  Some choices appear to be important and need immediate attention.  Other choices may seem small or become part of a daily routine.  No matter how we see the day or the tasks to complete in the day, we should always remember God.

When we go through our day, all of our choices have consequences, whether big or small.  God wants to be a part of all of our decisions.  Once we realize that God wants to be part of our lives, we see that we are not living for ourselves, but for Him!  In all we do, we should do it for the Lord!  Today and every other day matters to God, so we should live each of them for Him!

Make today matter by committing yourself and your day to God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for giving me another day.  Help me to honor You in all I say and do.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Pure Wisdom and Peace

"But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.  And the see whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." -James 3:17-18 (NASB)
We don't always have the answers.  Sometimes we can become frustrated with others or with ourselves when we can't seem to understand or when we don't react in the best possible ways.  As we search for answers, we need to remember to turn to God and His Word!

We are reminded that God's wisdom is pure.  God is also filled with peace.  He offers us grace and mercy.  He is ready to guide us.  Whenever we are searching for wisdom, we have a source of pure, true wisdom.  All we have to do is call on God and then listen to His plan for our lives.  Through prayer, reading His Word, and worship, we can gain pure wisdom and learn to sow seeds of peace in ways that build up His Kingdom and each other!

Accept God's pure wisdom and learn to plant seeds of peace!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being willing to give me wisdom and help me learn.  Help me to use Your wisdom to sow seeds of love and to build Your Kingdom.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
