Babies!

"And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?" -I Corinthians 3:1-3 (NASB)
My three year-old daughter likes the idea of being a "big girl." Sometimes, after spending time with babies or younger kids, she slips back into baby talk. I have to remind her to "talk like a big girl." As Christians, we may find ourselves in a similar situation.

We often like to think of ourselves as being "grownup" or having things "under control", but there are times when we revert to baby behaviors. Paul told the Corinthians (I Corinthians 3:1-3) that he had to speak to them and feed them like babies in Christ. This early church let the influences of jealousy and strife creep into their body of believers. Paul was telling these fellow believers that they needed to act "grownup" to be treated as grownups of the faith. These believers needed to grow in their faith and not be brought down by the baby behaviors of others around them.

Even today in our churches, our body of believers, we must beware of influences that cause us to act like babies. When we begin to talk, act, or eat like babies, we must call on God to help us learn, develop, and grow in Him.

Talk to God and grow in Him so that you can avoid baby behaviors and be a "big girl" or "big boy" in Christ!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for taking me in when I am a baby and for helping me to grow in You. Help me to avoid baby behaviors so that I can make a positive impact for you. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
