Forgiving someone can be easier said than done. While we may feel the desire to forgive, our heads and our hearts struggle justifying forgiving someone that doesn't "deserve" it. Fortunately for us, God has forgiven us through the sacrifice of His Son, even when we weren't and aren't deserving of the forgiveness! This salvation through forgiveness of our sins, which are never counted against us, is the greatest gift and blessing we could ever receive!
Since we have been blessed, our approach to forgiveness should change. When faced with the issue of forgiving someone, we should rely on God for the strength to forgive and remove the burden of carrying a grudge. Our old ways may be deeply ingrained as habits, but we can break those habits and be set free!
You are forgiven by God. You are blessed by God. Learn to accept His forgiveness and to forgive like Him so that you can live freely with Him.
Prayer:
Dear God-
I ask for Your forgiveness and thank You for sending You Son to save me and allow me to be forgiven. Please teach me to forgive others as freely as You have forgiven me. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
