-James 5:16 (NIV)
We are reminded in the book of James (5:16) that we should not only be accountable to God, but also to each other. We can form bonds with each other, supporting each other in confessing sins to each other and praying for each other. As we pray for each other, we can be strengthened and made whole. We can help each other grow in our walk with God and be reassured that our prayers hold power.
God is always there for us, but we can also benefit by supporting each other. God has placed people around each us that can help us on our journey to know Him better. So, do you have concern that needs lifted to God? Find that person God has placed in your life, share your struggle or concern, and pray for each other. Have a thanksgiving or praise? Share it, so that others can also lift up the joy to God. Have a plan to read the Bible more? Share it with a friend and hold each other accountable.
God wants to have a closer relationship with each of us. God has given us people in our lives that can be our supports or "buddy system" so that we can grow together and grow closer to God. Be accountable first to God... and to each other!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank you for loving me and always being there for me. Thank you for providing people in my life that can help hold me accountable. Please hear our prayers and fill them with Your power. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
