There was a song I like called "The House That Built Me" was released several years ago. The song recounted the building of and growing up in a childhood home. The memories and feelings associated with a home can offer perspective and can help us remain grounded, remembering what is important. Beyond just building houses or homes, we need to consider who is building our experiences and purpose!
As we build our lives on earth, we need to think about who is truly in charge and our purposes or callings on earth. We can build buildings. We can build houses. We can come together with others to be sure our house is a home for family and friends. However, our focus should not be on our creations, but on our Creator! God provides our purpose. He has created everything. God is behind us and providing us with resources. We can return to childhood homes and memories, but, more importantly, we should always return to God and remain connected to Him so He can build us up, no matter where our journeys take us!
Houses can be built, but God has built all of creation...including you!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for building me up, for saving me and helping me grow and learn. Help me to always cling to You as I journey through and build this life on earth. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
