Now, as I look forward to 2014, I find myself coming back to discover God's plan for me. He has a plan for each of us! We need to renew our commitment to Him, taking time to hear God and follow His desires for our lives. Each of us is in a different place in our walk with God, but He is there for us, no matter where we are in the journey...even if we are just starting or haven't really started yet! We may have loved God, but may not have always taken the time to listen and open ourselves up to His plan. We may have been too busy to stop and enjoy a quiet moment with Him or we may have been trying to cope with burdens that we were "handling" on our own. Whatever the case, confirm your place in God's kingdom and enjoy His blessings.
Consider this question: I strive to be faithful, but have I given Him everything or do I try to maintain control? Speaking from my experiences, there are many times in my life when I try to maintain control, when I try to solve problems or deal with issues on my own. The new year is often viewed as a time of new beginnings, but with God we can "restart" at any time. He is always willing to forgive us, renew us, and support us throughout our journey.
Just as David knew that God made him king and acknowledged this blessing, we can acknowledge that God made us the kings and queens of our lives. David knew God was in control and David's kingdom was blessed. If we confirm God's control - and relinquish our own struggle for control - we can receive God's blessings on our lives and the lives of those around us. Letting go of our need for control can be difficult, but it is important in allowing us to truly hear and see God's plan for greatness in and through us! Let God have the power to exalt you and those around you because of His love and greatness!
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for being there for me, even when I think I can take care of things on my own. I recognize that you have placed me here for a great purpose. Please help me to let go, give You control, and follow Your plan for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
