Escaping Shadows

"For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust." -II Peter 1:4 (NASB)
The folklore goes that if the today is cloudy and the groundhog doesn't see its shadow, then spring will come early.  If the groundhog does see its shadow, then winter will persist for 6 more weeks.  Many people turn their attention to the groundhog on February 2nd to look for an escape from the doldrums of winter and with hope for an early rebirth of spring!

While groundhog day may be a fun time to "escape" winter, our bigger concern should focus on escaping our sin and securing our spiritual rebirth.  God has granted us salvation through His Son.  We have the promises of God that can form the foundation of our lives and allow us to live eternally as one reborn in Him.  We don't have to worry about seeing our shadows and being "stuck" in the corruption and evil of the world.  When we turn our lives over to Him, we can begin to experience His divine nature!

Don't get stuck in the shadows of corruption, but instead find rebirth in the promises of God!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for allowing me to be born again.  Please forgive my sin and guide me as I try to live a more Godly life.  Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, I pray, amen.
