Whether it's my young daughter at home or my "young adult" students at school, they don't always understand the reason for discipline. They don't realize that those enforcing the rules or admonishing them are just trying to look out for their best interests and safety. While they may not appreciate the reminders about behavior or discipline now, I am hopeful that the lessons learned will be remembered and beneficial in the future.
God is watching over us in a similar way. God may discipline or rebuke us, but it is for our own good! God loves us and He wants what is best for us in our lives. Sometimes we make choices that do not follow His plan for our lives. When He needs to, God will get our attention. We should accept His loving discipline, remembering that it is for our own good!
Listen to God and appreciate His discipline because it is for your own good!

Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and being willing to discipline me in Your loving way. Help me to remember that Your discipline is for my own good. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
