It's not always easy to hear feedback or take criticism. We don't always want to hear the things that we don't do well or relive the mistakes we've made. If we ignore criticism, feedback, and mistakes, then we can't improve and get better. When we don't account for our actions and reflect on our relationship with God, then we can't improve this relationship in order to move closer to God!
God gives us people and circumstances in our lives to help us grow. Sometimes we don't act or react in a loving or Godly way. There are consequences because of our actions. In order to grow, we must respond to discipline. When we are disciplined, when we listen to feedback and constructive criticism, then we can have a better understanding of God, ourselves, and each other. These understandings can lead to a closer relationship with God and a more loving, peaceful relationship with each other.
Don't regard discipline solely as punishment. Look at discipline as loving correction and opportunities to grow in God's love!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for your discipline and guidance. Help me to see Your guidance and heed Your correction, so that my understanding can grow. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
