God or Man?

"When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council.  The high priest questioned them, saying, 'We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.' But Peter and the apostles answered, 'We must obey God rather than men.'" -Acts 5:27-29 (NASB)

There are times when it is easy to go with the flow.  We keep quiet, put our heads down so we're not noticed, and go about our ways.  Sometimes silence is necessary, but we shouldn't give in to pressures from people or society when it goes against God's commands!

Peter and the apostles could have been quiet.  They could have lived their lives without drawing the attention of many around them, but God gave them different commands.  Even though following God's orders brought them before the Council, they knew that they had to obey God.  As we live our lives, we must also listen to the path that God wants us to take and know when and how we should speak up for Him.  God will be there with us each step of the way!

Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and supporting me.  Help me to know that You are with me and will protect me when I obey Your commands.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
