"Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness." -Romans 12:6-8 (NASB)
I have been privileged to attend teacher training referred to as the "Dream Team." In the time spent at the training, I worked with many talented individuals. Each person brings a unique set of skills and experiences that can be shared in order to improve the education of the youth in our care. As we gathered from across the country with the common goal of educating, we formed a community that is much greater than any one individual in the room.
The same feeling should be true when we gather as a church. Within the church there are individuals with many different talents and gifts from God. Each of these unique gifts should be valued and shared in order to improve the health of the relationships in the church and the mission of spreading God's love to each other and the world around outside of the church. We are not called to judge, but rather to unite in a community that embraces the common themes of love and forgiveness through God and His Son.
God has selected you for His Dream Team. When we value and unite the unique talents, gifts, and experiences of the church in His name, we truly form the best "Dream Team" ever assembled. It's time to move forward as a team of His servants using our gifts for His glory!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the many talents and gifts with which you have blessed me, the gifts that I realize and the ones that I fail to notice. Help me to best use my gifts in Your service while valuing the unique gifts of others as well. Please allow Your Church to unite to peacefully spread Your message of love and forgiveness as the "Dream Team." In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
