Good Listeners

9/3/2014

"Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray.  The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous.  The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning.  The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.  No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God." -I John 3:7-9 (NIV)
As my daughter goes off to preschool, I know that she may not always be a "good listener", but I hope that she knows what is right and doesn't let others easily lead her astray.  I also know that, much like my daughter, each of us is in a constant battle to stay on God's path and not wander off after temptations.  We must keep working to do what is right and good!

Once we are born of God, our sins are forgiven and we are made righteous.  We need to turn away from sin and work harder to avoid letting the devil tempt us away from doing what is right.  Even when we fall short of perfection, we need to cling to the seed of God's righteousness.  God will forgive our sins, but our hearts must be turned over to Him and His righteousness!

Do what is right by being a "good listener" and not getting led astray!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for forgiving my sins and making me righteous through the sacrifice of Your Son.  Help me to avoid temptation and distractions so I am not led astray.  Help my actions guide others in Your ways.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
