Healing

"As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus.  They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard He was.  And wherever He went - into villages, towns or countryside - they placed the sick in the marketplaces.  They begged Him to let them touch even the edge of His cloak, and all who touched it were healed." -Mark 6:54-56 (NIV)
We are often in awe of celebrities, especially if we get to meet a celebrity.  People work to get close to these famous people.  Paparazzi try to get the perfect shot.  There are books, magazines, television shows, and websites dedicated to the lives of celebrities.  Just think what would happen if our current celebrities were able to perform even a fraction of the miraculous acts that Jesus performed!

During Jesus' time, He became somewhat of a celebrity.  People began to recognize Him.  Word of His whereabouts or arrival in a certain area spread quickly and people would flock to see Him.  The people would bring sick relatives and friends for the chance of having them healed by Jesus.  Many of these people believed that even if they touched Jesus' clothing, then they would be healed.

We can't reach out and physically touch Jesus or His clothing, but we can reach out to Jesus and God through prayer and faith.  Healing may be a process or it may happen in an instant.  Either way, God and Jesus are there to support us in our times of need.  They can heal us, whether it be body, mind, or soul that needs attention.

We need to remember to reach out and believe in God's power to heal.  We can reach out for ourselves or we can reach out for others.  We can bring the needs of others, whether friends, family, or strangers, to God, just as the people of Jesus' time would bring their sick to see Jesus.

The next time you or someone you know of is in need of healing, pray and reach out to God.  Have faith in His love, power, wisdom, and time for healing!  Give thanks for God's healing power!

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your healing power.  Please touch those in my life that need healing.  Allow each person to feel Your comfort and healing touch.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
