"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." -Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
Educational researcher Carol Dweck identifies two mindsets or self-beliefs that are commonly held by students. Students can either have a growth mindset in thinking that they can learn and become smarter with effort or a fixed mindset in which they think that their ability to learn cannot be changed through effort. A growth mindset is good, but it can become even better when combined with a heavenly mindset!
We are reminded in the Bible to set our minds on "things above." When we work at building a relationship with God, God will ensure that our efforts are met with growth. As we put in effort to know God through reading His Word, talking with Him in prayer, and learning about Him through worship and fellowship with other believers, we can grow spiritually and intellectually. Embracing a mindset that allows us to grow gives us opportunities to see and experience God's glory. As we experience God's glory, we can help others grow and experience it, too!
Have a heavenly-oriented growth mindset and continue to grow in and experience God's glory!
