His Righteousness

"Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.  Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes." -Romans 10:3-4 (NIV)

I can do it.  I've got this.  Give me a chance.  I'm ready.  I can be better.  I just have to try harder to be a better person.  And it goes on and on.  So many times we think we can take care of things on our own.  We think that we can become a better person through our own works, will, and determination.  Yet, no matter how good we think we are, we can never measure up to God's standard of perfection.  When we start to think that we can save ourselves or become righteous without His help, we stumble and fall.  

The Bible reminds us that if we try to become great on our own, we will not succeed.  We need to remember to submit to God and His plan for each of us.  When we rely on God and believe in God and the sacrifice of His Son, then we receive righteousness that we could never earn on our own and we become great in the Kingdom of God.

The next time you are thinking about how to become a better person, talk to God.  Ask God to help you.  Believe in Jesus and His sacrifice and you will find that God has more than enough righteousness for all believers!

Dear God-
Thank You for sending Your Son to save me from my sins.  Help me to remember that only You can make me righteous and pure.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
