Holding On

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." -Hebrews 10:23 (NASB)
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, "What am I holding on to?"  As a teacher, each school year brings a fresh start with a new set of students that I have the privilege of getting to know and help grow.  Some students come prepared for a fresh start in a new grade, full of excitement and possibility.  Other students come to school holding on to anger, frustration, and resentment from previous years and previous teachers and other adults in their lives.

Unlike school, adult life doesn't necessarily give us a fresh start on a regular basis, but we can choose what we hold on to and what we let go.  Letting go may be difficult, but it is often necessary.  As we let go of things in our life, we should be sure to never let go of our hope found in the Salvation offered by God through the sacrifice of His Son.  We should cling to this hope, never wavering, because God is faithful and will always be there for us.  God can replace our anger, frustration, and resentment with hope, love and forgiveness!

What are you choosing to hold on to?  Be sure that your choice is hope in the promises of the everlasting God!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for the hope that You give me through Your love and willingness to sacrifice Your Son.  Help me to always hold firmly to that hope and to always trust in Your promises.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
