One of the most important parts of my job as a teacher is to be sure that my classroom is a place where all students can learn. This depends on making the content understandable, but it also requires protecting the rights of all students, including those that may not normally have a voice within the system. As such, there are times, in fairness, that teachers need to speak up, to create a safe learning environment. This is true in all of our daily lives as well - we may need to speak up and defend those that do not always have a voice!
As followers of God, we are called to be part of His family, which includes welcoming all those that wish to join and be part of His Church. There are times when we need to be discerning, but we need to be careful of how we judge others. We need to speak up for what is right and, in doing so, defend others from unfair judgments or biases. Jesus has shown us that we should not ignore those that society or the church has deemed unacceptable. Instead, we need to reach out in God's love to bring all people into God's family. By learning about and from God, through prayer and reading His Word, we can learn how to help others defend their rights and grow as members of God's family!
Learn from God so you can have a voice and help defend the rights of those in need!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for being part of my life and for welcoming me into Your family. Help me to know what to say as I speak up and take action in defense of the rights of those in need. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
