Knowing and Understanding

"He who gains Wisdom loves his own life; he who keeps understanding shall prosper and find good." -Proverbs 19:8 (AMP)

Many of us are used to either "learning on the job" or attending training seminars or professional development to increase our knowledge and skills at our jobs.  We take the time to increase our knowledge base to help us do better at work.  We also need spiritual development and learning.  Sometimes this comes in the form of learning from life, but it can also result from studying God's Word and learning at church, retreats, and from fellowship with other believers.

In Proverbs (19:8) we are reminded that gaining wisdom and keeping understanding are important to our lives and how we will prosper in this life and beyond our time on earth.  When we are learning for work or growing spiritually, we should do it to honor God.  We can honor God through our own professional development and the work we do at whatever job or career we are in.  We can also honor God by learning more about Him and how He can guide us in our lives.  When we know and understand God, we can be sure that He will help us prosper!

We can honor God and prosper in our lives by knowing and understanding Him!

Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for guiding me.  Help me to grow spiritually and to honor You in all I do in my life.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
