"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction." -Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)
Maybe you've heard the expression, "The buck stops here." Using our scripture reading from today, we can turn that expression around to say, "All knowledge starts here - in the Lord!"
The verse tells us that our knowledge begins with a "fear" of the Lord. This does not mean that we should be afraid of the God. In this context the word fear means "to have a reverential awe of" God (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). When we revere and respect God in all of His wisdom and glory, then we can begin to gain pieces of knowledge and understanding.
The Bible verse from today also gives us a glimpse of an unwise or foolish man. Despising wisdom and instruction from God just isn't smart! So, take the time to be wise and "unfoolish" by listening to and gaining knowledge from God... then spread this knowledge to those around you!

Dear God-
Thank You for being the beginning of all knowledge and for Your willingness to share this knowledge. Help me to learn and apply all of the lessons and wisdom that you have for me. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
