"For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." -Romans 15:4 (NASB)
We should always be open to learning, especially from someone who is wise and from the Scriptures. God is wise and He will provide us with people and experiences, both positive and challenging, that will teach us important lessons. It us up to each of us to ask for His guidance in realizing (seeing and hearing) the lessons and then applying what we learn in our lives. We should also take the time to immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, His Word, in order to learn from the experiences of those of faith that came before us. It is through this study that He can speak to us and guide us.
Learning is an ongoing process. There is always more to see, hear, and do. Even Scriptures we've read before can hold new meaning when read at different times. Set yourself up to learn by reading the Scriptures, reflecting on your experiences, seeking wise counsel, and asking God to guide you in your faith journey.
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for all of the new learning experiences that have been opened to me. Help me to see, hear, and apply the lessons that You are trying to teach me. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
