"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." -Matthew 6:7-8 (NASB)
We probably all know someone that likes to talk. We may even be those "someones" that keep talking. While it can be entertaining to listen to someone tell stories, there are times when fewer words or shorter stories may be more effective, especially if we already know the story!
When we pray to God, we should realize that God already knows what is on our hearts and minds. Repetitive phrases and extra words are not necessarily more effective. We don't need to worry about using words to impress or to retell entire stories. God already knows us and the events of our lives. We should pray to God with prayers from our hearts. We can even follow the prayer that Jesus teaching us (Matthew 6:9-13) We can follow the directions that Prayers can be short or long, but what is important is our sincerity and faith in God's willingness to hear us and act on our behalf!
Trust that God will hear your prayers.
