Summer provides us with many different displays of light, but often these lights are temporary. Lightning storms light up the sky in momentary flashes. Lightning bugs or fireflies blink on and off during summer nights. Independence Day brings bright, colorful light shows that glimmer and fade. Each of these lights may inspire awe in each of us, but they are all only temporary lights.
Jesus talks about light, too, but His light is an eternal light. With our belief in Jesus and forgiveness through God, we can be lights for the world, too. While our time on earth may be limited, once we are part of God's eternal family, our light is more than a flash. We can take our light and let it shine to the world. We can be a long-term light that leads others to the eternal light of God the Father and Jesus the Son!
Don't flash or hide your light, be a long-term light that leads others to God!

Dear God-
Thank You for the forgiveness and salvation that You have provided for me. Help my light to shine and be a long-term guide that helps others find Your eternal life. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
