"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
-Matthew 7:1 (NIV)
It is not our place to judge and condemn others. Jesus warns us about the consequences of judging others. Beyond these consequences, we will find that once we let go of judging, criticizing, or condemning others, we are free to show God's love. Without judgment, it becomes easier to love!
When Jesus spoke, He didn't ask us to love those that were most like ourselves. He also didn't ask us to love only the perfect or righteous. He doesn't ask us to judge one another and only love those that meet a certain level of goodness, "lovability," or church attendance. Jesus does ask us to love one another just like He loves each of us: unconditionally - always and forever. None of us are perfect, but He still loves us and we should love each other!
The Bible is filled with God's love. It is our mission to show this love toward one another in our actions and words. Go and spread His love to everyone!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for loving me unconditionally. Please help me to show Your love to everyone I meet. Help me to not judge, criticize, or condemn, but to love as You love. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
