"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." -John 15:12-15 (NIV)
Friendship requires love and respect. The amount of love and respect we have for a friend can sometimes be measured in the amount of sacrifice we are willing to make on behalf of that friend. Are we willing to be inconvenienced for the sake of a friend? Our answer should be yes!
Jesus tells us what it means to be a friend, but He also demonstrated it! Jesus says that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend. He didn't just talk about this, though. Jesus actually acted out this greatest love by laying down His life for ALL of us. We are all friends of Jesus and He has demonstrated a never ending love by dying for us so that we can live through Him and with Him. Wow, what a friend!
Have faith that Jesus is your friend and loves you...He proved it when He died so that He could live with you forever!

Dear God-
Thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sins and to show me what true love and friendship really means. Please forgive my sins and save me so that I can spend forever with You. Through Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.
