We like to find a deal, a real value. We like to make the best offer that gets us the most, while paying the least. We might spend time searching between stores or online for a deal. Sometimes we're even willing to stand in long lines to get a good deal. All the while the best deal or offer is right in front of us and is free for the taking! God has placed an offer on the table for everyone... no limited quantities, no coupons required, no one day offers, and no waiting in long lines!
So, what is the offer? God's offer to us is forgiveness, unconditional love, and eternal life. The cost? Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. It's that easy!
There were early followers of Jesus that didn't realize His importance or the value of the "deal" of spending time with Him. Some of these followers gave up and returned to their old ways and old friends, but Simon Peter realized the value of his time with Jesus. Simon Peter knew Jesus held the key to eternal life and wholeheartedly believed in who Jesus was (and is!) and in the message Jesus spread.
We must believe as Simon Peter did when Jesus asked the twelve disciples if they were going away. Even if others give up on or turn away from Jesus, we need to remain faithful and committed to Jesus and His message of eternal life. We need to realize the value of the deal offered to us and we must accept it!
Where else can you go to find the deal that God offers us through His Son? The answer: NOWHERE! Now it is up to each one of us to accept the deal and spread the word in love to others!
