Not Your Battle

"But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." -Luke 6:27-28 (NASB)
Sometimes the actions of others may impact us in undesirable ways. We may get wrapped up in feelings of anger, resentment, or revenge. Dwelling on these feelings may seem natural, justified, or even the "right" thing to do, but in the end, are we any better for it?

When we dwell on these feelings, we are only holding ourselves back from experiencing the love, joy, and forgiveness found in God's presence. So how can we cope? We can deal with our feelings by realizing that this is not our battle to fight. When we put our hope, trust, and faith in God, we can leave behind those feelings and be reassured that God is working in our best interest.

I'm not saying that it is always easy to let go and move on. We also don't need to continue to invite the hurt or compromising situations into our lives. Our focus should be on praying for our enemies and asking God to bless them as well as us. Through prayer and faith, we can allow God to fight our battles, leaving us free to spread His love!

Hard as it may seem, let go and allow God to take control of your battles.

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for sending Your Son to give me guidance and words to live by. Please help me to have the wisdom and strength to put His guidance into action each and every day. Forgive me when I fail to be as loving and forgiving as I should be. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
