We are told that we need to want more and more. Advertising continues to learn how to convince us that we need new things or that what we do have isn't good enough. It can be easy to fall into these traps and it can be difficult teaching our children that having more isn't what is best!
We are warned that greed is damaging. Wanting more material things can stand in the way of our relationship with God and with each other. Accumulating a bunch of "stuff" is not the meaning or purpose of life. While it can be nice to have new things, we should not make material things and the accumulation of stuff the goal of our lives. We need to be on guard against greed while looking for ways to give of our time and talents to serve God!
Be on guard against greed and ready to give in service to others in the name of God!

Dear God-
Thank You for all that You have given me. Help me to avoid want and greed and instead focus on ways that I can serve You. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
