There are times in our lives that we celebrate. Sometimes we are filled with joy that we think will last forever, but it fades as we become engulfed in the everyday routines of life. As we prepare to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we need to remember that this is not only a time of reflection, but also a time of rejoicing and celebration!
As Jesus entered the city riding on a donkey, He was met with great fanfare. Palms and clothing on the ground to prepare the way marked the esteem in which people held Him. However, we know that many of the people forgot the feelings of celebration and rejoicing they experienced that day. We have the stories and lessons in the Bible from that first Palm Sunday as well as later reflections such as those in Philippians that remind us to continually rejoice and celebrate. God has sent His Son to die for our sin and to save us. There is no greater reason to continually rejoice and celebrate the Lord than that!
Jesus came to die for you, so continually rejoice in Him and celebrate!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for the gift of redemption that You have provided through Your Son. Please forgive my sin and help me to live a life of rejoicing and celebration. Through Jesus, Your Son, I pray, amen.
