We see it often on television and in the news, whether from celebrities, athletes, or politicians: Someone thinks they are bigger, better, and above the laws or rules that apply to everyone else. These people may have the mindset that they are "gods" or "untouchable". We may even look up to these people as heroes and role models. While their fame and positions may protect these people for a time, eventually the truth and the imperfection of their human nature is revealed.
Jesus was one "celebrity" that could have easily promoted Himself as the greatest man ever alive. He was, in fact, God! However, Jesus didn't promote Himself. He didn't live above the law and the rules of human decency. Instead, Jesus had the mindset of loving and helping others as a servant. He was humbled. He loved those that society said were "unlovable". In Jesus' life, we didn't see the revelation of imperfection, but the revelation of a perfect man and sacrifice for each and every one of us! As we look for a role model and example of how to live our lives, we turn our attention to Jesus. As redeemed children of God, we can try our best to live a humble, loving life of service to all those around us!
