Self Defense?

"The high priest stood up and said to Him, 'Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?' But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, 'I adjure You be the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.' Jesus said to him, 'You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.'" -Matthew 26:62-64 (NASB)
There are times when we feel attacked by those around us.  The attacks may come from strangers or from friends and family.  Sometimes, we may feel attacked by those within the church!  Responding when we feel attacked can be challenging, so what should we do?

Jesus knows what it is like to be attacked.  He was challenged throughout His life, right up until His crucifixion.  When being questioned prior to His crucifixion, Jesus refused to answer.  Jesus could have stood up and called on the power of God the Father, but He allowed His silence to speak more than words.  Jesus allowed God to work through the high priest to proclaim His place in God's Kingdom.  Sometimes we want to respond to accusations or attacks when the best approach may be silence and trust in God.  When we allow God to defend us, we don't have to be overly concerned with our self defense!

When you feel under attack, be at peace and allow God to defend you!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for sending Jesus to show me how to live a better life and to save me from all of my sin.  Help me to let go of self defense and completely trust in Your defense.  Through Jesus, my Savior, I pray, amen.
