Parenting a daughter and teaching nearly a hundred middle schoolers each school year presents the challenge of teaching right from wrong. There are times when the "right" thing to do seems to conflict with the messages my daughter and students learn from the world in which they live. When we are living our lives and teaching those around us, we need to know what is right and what is kind.
We are reminded in Zechariah (7:9) that we are to practice "true justice" and "kindness and compassion". There should not be a question about how we know justice, kindness, and compassion. God is the example of righteousness. It is through God that we can know what is just and right. It is also through God that we can know kindness and compassion. God, who is perfect and all-powerful, shows us love, kindness, and compassion through His redemptive plan for our lives. As we live and teach others, we should return to the Bible and communicate with God so we know what is right and just and for guidance to show kindness, compassion, and love to all those we encounter.
Know God and talk to Him so you can show justice, kindness, and compassion!

Dear God-
Thank You for loving me and for the people in my life that have shown me Your ways and helped me to learn right from wrong. Help me to continue to teach others of Your standards for our lives. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
