Stay Humble and Be More!

"Whoever exalts himself [with haughtiness and empty pride] shall be humbled (brought low), and whoever humbles himself [whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly] shall be raised to honor." -Matthew 23:12 (AMP)
There are often headlines of athletes and movie stars that "fall from grace."  These people are built up in our minds and in public perception of them.  I imagine that it is easy to begin thinking highly of yourself when living in such an environment.  Even though most of us will never experience stardom, we may have moments when we have too much pride and confidence in our own abilities.

Life often reminds us of the words Jesus spoke in Matthew (23:12).  When we start to think to much of ourselves, we tend to move away from God.  God doesn't want to see us fail, but He knows that sometimes we need to fail on our own so we realize His role in our lives.  Instead of getting too full of pride, we need to remember that a modest and realistic view of ourselves should include God in the picture.  When we include God, He will raise us above all anything we could dream of being on our own!

Stay humble and include God in your life and you will be more than you could ever imagine!

Prayer:
Dear God-

Thank You for loving me even when I think too much of myself.  Help me to remain humble with a modest opinion of myself and help me to always keep You as part of the picture.  Through Jesus I pray, amen.
