-Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)
As we physically prepare for the for the day, we must remember to prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, too. As we put on our belts and shirts we can be reminded to act in truth and with integrity - the belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 16:14). When putting on our shoes, we should be ready to follow God and travel in peace (Ephesians 16:15). As we put on our hats or hoods, we can remember the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 16:17). As we climb in our vehicle, we can feel shielded from the outside, like holding our shields of faith and protection from the evil one (Ephesians 16:16). In our hearts we should always hold the word of God, our sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 16:17).
As we prepare for the day, we need each part of the armor of God. Most importantly, we must be in tune with what God is asking us to do throughout the day. As we put on the armor of God, we cannot forget to pray and spend time listening to God.
Take the time each night to lay out your armor of God, then as you prepare for your day or special event, don't forget to put it on as an essential part of your wardrobe!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for each piece of armor that You have given to me. Thank you for Your truth and integrity. Help me to follow you in peace, remembering the salvation that You have provided for me, the faith in the promises that You will protect and shield me, and Your word to guide me. Please help me to be prepared at all times with Your full armor. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
