Middle schoolers are a unique group of students. They can be both mature and impulsive almost at the same time. Watching their behaviors and teaching them provides a reminder to take time to think things through, remembering that we have to live with our decisions.
When dedicating things, committing ourselves, or declaring things "holy", we need to take time to think through our actions. While it may seem easy to commit to or dedicate something in the moment, we will have to be able to stand up to (and with) the vows we make. Before we commit ourselves to an endeavor or declare something holy, we should seek God's guidance by asking Him through prayer and listening for His answer!
Don't act rashly! As God for wisdom as you dedicate things and make vows.

Dear God-
Thank You for the reminder to think through my actions and commitments. Help me to rely on Your wisdom and guidance in all of my words and actions. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
