Traditions of Comfort

"So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.  Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word."
-II Thessalonians 2:15-17 (NASB)
Traditions can be a source of comfort.  Many of us have traditions that we celebrate, whether these traditions involve the observance of a religious holy day or holiday or the observance of non-religious events and holidays.  While we sometimes wait for and anticipate the arrival of one of our traditional celebrations, we should stop to think about the comforting traditions surrounding us each and every day!

The traditions of God's grace and comfort are present everyday and in every situation.  These traditions include God's lessons that are always present and His love for us that never ends.  These are traditions that we can stand on and build on in our hearts and the actions of our lives...each and every day!  God's traditions should comfort us and strengthen us through His works and His word that has been given to us.

There are many traditions that surround our faith and can give us comfort.  We must be sure to hold to the lessons taught to us in the Bible.  If we stand on the principles taught to us and embrace God, then we can experience God's comfort throughout anything we may face here on earth.

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for Your traditions which teach me through Your grace and allow me to be strengthened and comforted.  Help me to learn from You and to teach Your traditions to others so that they, too, may experience Heavenly strength and comfort.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
