What do you hope for?

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." -Hebrews 11:1 (NASB)
Hope.  It is a powerful word.  Hope can sustain a person through difficult circumstances.  Hope can provide motivation for pushing forward, taking chances, and reaching the end result.  However, hope is useless without faith.

When we hope we must be assured that what we are hoping for is possible.  We must have faith!  Faith is believing in the things that we cannot see or have not seen.  Hebrews 11 gives us many examples of faith and hope throughout the Bible.

Because of faith as the assurance of things hoped for Abel presented a pleasing offering to God, Enoch was taken to be with God, Noah prepared the ark, Abraham and Sarah lived in a foreign land and had a son when it seemed impossible, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph offered blessings and worshiped, Moses was hidden in the reeds as a newborn and later became a great leader, Joshua brought down the walls of Jericho, and Rahab was saved because of aiding God's spies (Hebrews 11:4-31).  Others, including Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets, conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, and many other deeds (Hebrews 11:32-40).

We can hope for things as well.  When our faith and hope are in God, all things are possible!  We can be assured that through our faith in God we can achieve great things.  Like some of our "heroes and heroines of faith", we may have to wait to realize God's plan for us, but we can be sure that God will reward our conviction in things not seen.

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for reassuring me and my hope.  Through my faith in You, allow me to follow Your plan for my life.  In Jesus' name, Amen.
