It is easy to get caught up in trying to please people. We may try to please our boss at work, our family at home, or others that we feel have expectations of us. We want these people to be happy with our work, enjoy the time we spend with them, or feel that we have met their expectations of us. However, if we forget our true calling, we may be neglecting God in our attempts to get the approval of other people.
Paul reminds us in his letter to Galatians that if we focus on trying to win the approval of people, we are not servants of God. We should be working to please God by listening to His voice and following His plan. When we focus on God and serve Him, then we will find His goodness as He works for good in our lives. We should make serving God our first goal, before our goal of pleasing people.
