When I grow up...

"Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be.  We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.  And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure." -I John 3:2-3 (NASB)

Deciding what to be when you grow up can be a difficult decision.  My four-year old daughter has already told me that she wants to be an author, a teacher, a mommy, and a dentist.  As my students complete 8th grade and head off to high school, they, too, must decide about high school courses and eventually a career path.  As children, they can shape their path through the choices they make.  

As children of God, we have choices, too.  We are reminded that our future has not been fully shown to us, but we know that God has greatness in store for each and every one of us.  We need to make the choices to love God, ask and receive forgiveness, praise His name, and follow His plan for our lives.  When we spiritually grow up, we should want to be like Jesus - pure, filled with love and hope.  

Make choices to accept salvation and live for God, so you can be like Jesus when you "grow up."

Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for giving me Jesus to look up to and try to emulate.  Please save me from my sin and fill me with Your love so I can be like Jesus when I "grow up."  Through Him I pray, amen.
