-John 7:18 (NIV)
Talk for the sake of gaining personal recognition or glory is meaningless in the end. When viewing advertisements we often see talk designed to persuade us of the greatness of a product or object. Many (not all) politicians and leaders also speak to exalt their own skills, ideas, and glory. We listen and often are left disappointed when the talk is empty and unfulfilled.
There are times when we might be guilty of speaking for personal glory, too. Before speaking, we should think not only about our words, but the motivation behind those words. If the words are only to gratify ourselves, then we need to seek God's words. When we seek His glory and allow Him to speak through us, then our words will be filled with truth!
Before you speak, ask God to provide His words of truth and then allow Him to speak through you for His glory!
Prayer:
Dear God-
Thank You for guiding me. Please allow me to speak words of truth that will glorify You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
