You might be familiar with the phrase, "A man's home is his castle." In his or her house, a person can hold the position of ruler, therefore allowing or denying entry to the house. There are even laws that protect the privacy of the home, but the "ruler's" responsibility doesn't end there.
The ruler of the house also has the responsibility of building and maintaining or overseeing the building and maintenance of the house to keep it safe for all who enter. This is an important job that leads to consequences. Decisions can be made to keep the house safe, clean, and up to code. Other decisions can lead to neglect, dangerous conditions, and condemnation. While this is true for the physical structures of our houses, it is also true of our spiritual structures.
When making spiritual decisions about how to build and maintain our houses, we should remember to put God on speed dial as our go-to contractor and advisor. With God's knowledge and guidance, we can build our house on the strongest of spiritual foundations, surpassing all earthly codes with His heavenly code. Consulting with God and trusting His wisdom will allow our house to withstand the tests of time... for eternity!

You have knowledge and wisdom that goes beyond anything I can ever hope to know. Please guide me in building my house so that it will please You and last for eternity. Through Jesus I pray, amen.
